A new short story collection from Big Finish arriving in November : Big Finish book news - Bernice Summerfield, Blake's 7, and the Omega Factor "Heroes" (novel & e-book) I'm not a big fan of short stories but as this is Blake's 7 I'll probably buy it anyway. :) Great cover but the £16.99 price tag is a bit off putting. I might wait and see if it's cheaper on Amazon or elsewhere. The Omega Factor novel looks interesting as well, as it's set during the original TV series. Interesting! The BF website confirms the physical edition is a hardback, in keeping with the rest of the line, of about 224 pages. Hopefully BF will drop the spine numbering we've seen on previous releases. Synopsis A distress call is coming from a Federation research base… A crack team is assembled to take over the Liberator… A band called the Dangerous prepare to ‘Rock the Rock Planet’… Blake's 7: Heroes features six stories by Trevor Baxendale, Paul Darrow, Jonathan L Howard, Una McCormack, LM Myles and Gary Russell. Heroes or villains? Things are not always black and white in the dystopia ruled by the ruthless Federation. The crew of the Liberator are passionate in their opposition to the injustice and corruption of the government, but this group of convicts and outcasts aren’t exactly angels themselves… Whether it’s a large scale rescue mission, or a simple act of kindness, these stories explore an important question: what really makes a hero? Separate by Una McCormack Rock Star by Paul Darrow Dominator by Jonathan L Howard Metanoia by L M Myles Contagion by Trevor Baxendale Seven Magnificent Dirty Expendables on an Impossible Mission by Gary Russell Produced and Edited by Xanna Eve Chown Written By: Trevor Baxendale, Paul Darrow, Jonathan L Howard, Una McCormack, LM Myles and Gary Russell There's a few names there that I'm pleased to see, and at least one that fills me with dread. At least one or two seem to be comic tales, at least judging by the information above. It's also interesting to see something about a rock band, given some of the things that were in the last release, "Mediasphere". |

Announcement: https://www.bigfi...ega-factor Book/eBook: https://www.bigfi...ebook-1694 Audiobook (download only, no physical version): https://www.bigfi...obook-1697 A fine list of authors. I'm most excited for how Paul writes "Blake's 7" pre-finale (assuming these are all set in series 2) and the Blake's 7 debut of "Down and Safe" podcast host LM Myles. If Rock Star doesn't feature the Sophron I shall demand my money back!
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

It doesn't allow you to store the books in timeline order, including grouping PD's trilogy together. (Well, of course, you physically can, but then the numbering is out of order and it makes it looks like you have jumbled them up.) I'm particularly interested in finding out where Paul's story is set - if it's a crew adventure set within the series, or something prequel/sequel like his Avon tales. The story from the fabbo Gary "Famous Five" Russell sounds silly but I'll give it a go. (As if I can complain about anything being silly!) I'm still hoping the audio book will get a CD release but it seems a forelorn hope at this stage of the game. |

(Well, of course, you physically can, but then the numbering is out of order and it makes it looks like you have jumbled them up.) It is irksome, I agree - but as my B7 books are currently stacked in a teetering tower, in no particular order, it doesn't affect my sensibilities too much at the moment. Lots of my collections (Terry Pratchett, Tolkein etc) are a mish-mash of sizes, formats and publications, so randomly numbered B7 books won't seem out of place once I've liberated shelf space for them. Also about collections, through slightly off-topic, I've just learned that the writer Sue Grafton has died before finishing the final book in her Alphabet series, argh! I've got almost all of them (loaned 'A is for Alibi' to neighbour's granddaughter & never got it back, and stopped buying at V cos I ran out of shelf space) - I'm gutted that her Alphabet will stop forever at Y. http://www.digita...s-aged-77/ I'm particularly interested in finding out where Paul's story is set - if it's a crew adventure set within the series, or something prequel/sequel like his Avon tales. It's set 'during Season C' (exact position unspecified). The story from the fabbo Gary "Famous Five" Russell sounds silly but I'll give it a go. (As if I can complain about anything being silly!) I LOVED this one! The title makes it sound sillier than it actually is - a hugely enjoyable story that apart from one nitpick, fits seamlessly into B7 continuity at the point at which it's set (directly after 'Seek Locate Destroy' ![]() ![]() I'm still hoping the audio book will get a CD release but it seems a forlorn hope at this stage of the game. I think it's going to remain Digital only. Twitter: @TravisinaB7

At the risk of sounding a bit miserable but does this book suffer from the poor editing/proof reading that seems to afflict all the other B7 Big Finish books that I've read? |

I just got my copy today so I cannot answer your questions, but to tell the truth, I am hoping things have changed in the editing/proofreading department of Big Finish. I was not happy with any of the previous books and hope this new one will change my mind about buying them in future. Zil: Oneness must resist the Host.

What irked me about this release wasn't the book but the audio reading - nobody corrected Michael's pronunciation of 'Centero', which he says as 'Sentero' in both Una's and Gary's stories. David Richardson was producer of the audio, and he really should have known better! Twitter: @TravisinaB7

That sort of thing really irks me too. We have the series to refer back to and they still pronounce names differently than established fact. Grrr...
