New B7 Anthology - Submissions Invited!
Travisina
Some of you may have read (and indeed contributed to) the You & Who fan anthology Blakes Heaven, published in 2015. Sadly, this book has been withdrawn from sale and will not be republished.

However, the good news is that You & Who have decided to produce a brand new B7 fan anthology, to tie in with next year's 40th Anniversary, and submissions are invited now!

The new team of editors comprises Jackie Emery, Susan Bowden and Ann Worrall. We're looking for essays in the region of 2,000 words apiece, on the subject of your relationship with the series and/or its various spin-offs. These should generally be in the form of anecdotes or memoirs, rather than reviews or analyses of the programme itself. What does Blakes 7 mean to you? How will you be celebrating its Ruby Anniversary?

For full details, head over to the You & Who website here.

The contact email address for queries and for submissions is: blakes7book@gmail.com. You can also post any queries on this thread.

PLEASE NOTE: THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 25TH FEBRUARY

Good to know another one is planned. (I have Blake's Heaven and understand all too well the unfortunate circumstances of its withdrawal.) I'm glad another anthology is in the works. Grin

Speaking of which, do you need illustrations...? Wink

I'd LOVE to have illustrations (especially yours Smile ) but we'll have to see how the book is going further down the line - there would be implications for the printing process. Also, the producer has definitely said that "using artwork of licensed, copyrighted images and designs is a big no-no" so that will have to be born in mind. I'll come straight back to you if we do get the go ahead for any illustrations!

That sounds so interesting, especially given the top-notch choice of editors!

I'll have to start thinking about my submission!

Let me know! I'd like to try my hand at an essay as well. Wink

Sounds like an exciting project.

Congratulations and good luck to the editors.

Would love to write something for this but with an imminent house move I may not have the time.

Thanks TT. We’re definitely looking forward to receiving your submission. Grin

Blake’s 7 is close to all our hearts and everyone is welcome to put ‘pen to paper’ with their thoughts on the show that will be celebrating its Ruby Anniversary in 2018.

We are planning on shaping the book into something special and aiming towards raising thousands for Alzheimer’s UK.

If anyone has any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the editing team either here or at the dedicated email address: blakes7book@gmail.com

Cheers,

Mistletoe/Susan

Just to let you know that I have started it. Hopefully, once Xmas is out of the way I can continue. Is it alright if I leave it up to you guys to edit my meanderings?

Brilliant! I shall look forward to reading it, Sue! Your memories and recollections will be a real treat and great addition to the book. And I get how busy it is around Christmas; decorated both our trees yesterday (one all gold and stylish, with hints of red, and the other one completely blinged up with all the baubles which have family history.)

But not to digress; yes, we are editing through the essays as they drop into the B7Book's Inbox - so nobody needs to worry about typos and the like.

We are hoping to announce the book's title shortly. A name we believe will reflect the show and the wonderful fandom since 1978.

Cheers Grin

Happy New Year to One and All!

We'd like to express our thanks to everyone who's thus far written an essay for the Blake's 7 40th Anniversary Book.

All the submissions we've received are everything we would have expected from such a wonderful group of people: interesting, personal, poignant.

There is a wealth of history within the fandom, and we would like to invite everyone to share their stories with us at the following address: blakes7book@gmail.com.

There isn't any need to worry about punctuation, grammar, structure and pesky spelling errors. We'll deal with all that at our end. What we'd love to hear are stories personal to you: how did you come to Blake's 7? What does the show mean to you? Were you watching from the start?

Please feel free to write about your involvement in whatever form that takes e.g., forums, conventions ... as a lurker. Everyone has a story to tell and I guarantee yours will be interesting.

If you have any queries/questions, please don't hesitate to contact the editing team either here or at the email address listed above.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

We are pleased to announce the B7 Fan Anthology (which we are scheduled to launch at Ian Kubiak's Cygnus Alpha 4 convention) now has its official title. A title we believe perfectly encapsulates the fandom's unwavering loyalty to the show throughout the last four decades.

The book will be titled: Blake's Legacy - 40 Years of Rebellion

As we're currently in the editing process, I wanted to once again thank everyone who generously took the time to write and send an essay. Thank you for sharing your stories - they are touching, interesting, funny and a pleasure to read.

I know many who have written an essay will be in attendance at CA4 and it's always lovely to catch up with friends/familiar faces. And this year it will be a pleasure to meet many of the contributors I haven't encountered at previous events.

Kind regards,

Susan/Mistletoe

I just read via Ian's Cygnus Alpha site on Facebook that the book will be available at the convention. How convenient! Really looking forward to reading everyone's essays. I had a ball writing mine- and I bet so did everyone else. What a fitting tribute to our favorite show! Thanks for all the hard work you did, editors!

How come I totally missed/forgot it! Have I been off-line for too often and too long?
Anyway, I will be looking forward to read the contributions.
And many thanks to Mistletoe and Travisina for their efforts!
