BLAKE'S SEVEN - 7 STARS LIBERATED DVD ?
steveothen
Does anyone know why Paul Darrow doesn't feature on the DVD : "BLAKE'S SEVEN - 7 STARS LIBERATED FROM THE CLASSIC TV SERIES" ?, didn't he want to do it ?.

BradPaula
Koch Media, who conducted the interviews and have sold the interviews solo in previous years, decided in the 40th anniversary year to put out a special DVD collating all the previous interviews and including a new one with Michael Keating to celebrate the anniversary.

As to why they chose Michael Keating to interview new instead of Paul Darrow, is only to be found by contacting Koch Media.

It could be due to ill health. We all know Paul Darrow's health isn't what it was. He did nearly die 3 or 4 years ago and lost his legs.

Is there an archive interview with Paul Darrow on this release, or is he not included at all ?.

The DVD includes 'archive' interviews with Gareth Thomas, Jan Chappell, Jacqueline Pearce, Stephen Greif and Peter Tuddenham. The disc also has an interview with special effects master Mat Irivne and an interview done earlier this year with Michael Keating. The entire disc is presented by Nicholas Briggs, the voice of the Daleks, and DVD producer, Keith Barnfather.

It says on the back cover "For all Blake's 7 fans, this 2 disc special collector's edition is 6 hours of pure nostalgia, which will give you a whole new insight into the making of your favorite science fiction series!"

He's not included.

There's a very good reason why Paul isn't readily available for every project these days. I'm just glad that he continues to work on the Big Finish Full Cast audios.

Blake's 7 was an ensemble show - it wasn't about just one actor. The 7 Stars Liberated DVD is a tremendous, value-for-money release.

I'm sure we can all agree on that, but Paul was a part of that ensemble.

And I agree wholeheartedly with your comments re Big Finish. The scripts are wonderful and Paul and Michael sound (almost) exactly the same as they did on the series forty years ago. Same could be said for Jacs, God bless her.

Agreed, it is a shame that they couldn't of found a way to include Paul, i know he has health issues these days but he was / is a big part of that ensemble.
& he's still just as tremendous in the BF audios !.
