Hi I am an artist interested in the way that sci fi has seen the future and in particular how sci fi has represented art in the future. I was wondering if there is any artworks in Blake's 7. Things like sculpture, painting and ceramics Any info would be gratefully received Dan5 |

The only thing I can think of is the portrait of Servalan in Traitor which seems to hark back to the Pietro Antigone 1955 type of grand portraiture of Queen Elizabth 2.

There are classic-style statues in Krantor's quarters in 'Gambit'. Not very sci-fi, though!![]() Twitter: @TravisinaB7

Try http://www.framec.../b7lib.htm. May have examples. There’s for instance a primitive statue in Cygnus Alpha, presumably representing Brian Blessid’s ancestor/God. Rumours of Death show the Presidents Palace dining room with a large oil painting of a country scene with horse. Not a scenario anyone alive in the series can have seen because the Earth has been nuked! Old masters style. Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

There are a lot of random sculptures in the dome city from The Way Back. Actually, our very first view of Roj Blake is shot through one of them:![]() More sculptures can be glimpsed in this episode; however, we never get a really good, unobstructed view of them in their entirety: ![]() ![]() Largo, who calls himself a 'collector', has several futuristic sculptures in his office: ![]() ![]() |

I always thought that Largos sculptures were some kind of Moondisc mutations, Largo having a little joke... |

Poor Moondisks ![]() And I thought my interpretation of that art was bad... To me it always looked like intestines. ![]() Changing the subject: there's also Dayna's song in "Sarcophagus". And then there was a fascinating observation on a round playing card Avon was holding in "Gambit", resulting in this Tumblr thread. The playing card had a picture of A Lady Seated at a Virginal by Johan Vermeer on it. |
