Smallspace 2019 7th July 2019
littlesue
Just a heads up. Yes, Smallspace 8 at Hanslope Village on 7th July 2019 is fast approaching. This time they are celebrating the 50th of the Apollo Moon Landings! (Was it really that long ago that we were allowed to sit in school and watch it live on those big TVs they had back then?)
Not sure if Mat will have the Libby on display and his hairdryers, but he auctioning off our lovely Richard Bailey's items all for charity.
So why not come along.....

I will indeed, he said he had spoken to you guys and to say hello, and he was impressed you seem to base your vacations around the current Blake's 7 event!

Hoep you are having fun on the rest of your visit.

This should be interesting. Does this Danny chap have any idea what it is he is actually going to auction off??
And what will he make of the Daleks rampaging round this nice quiet village? And the Storm Troopers patrolling the area???

So looking forward to this Sunday. I shall be wearing my bright shirt again in honour of Richard.

Phew, still recovering. Photos to be sorted soon. Once again a little get together for us B7 fans in amongst Dr who and Star Wars.
Mat conducted the auction of Richard's props and he did very well. I think they are still adding the money up!
I couldn't put my hand up as the prices were way above any budget of mine.
However...
...my Dearest, seeing a box of books on the floor after the auction offered Mat £10 for the books. I said that I would donate them to my local Marie Curie Charity Shop as they get money for bulk lots of books.
Lovely Gary carried the second box back to the car and found a couple of signed CDs in the bottom of the box...they are going with Gary to the next Team Blake event!
Me? I finally sorted out the books when I got home and amongst the Astronomy Year Books were several other books signed by Patrick Moore, Jamie Anderson, M G Harris and others.
I'm going to put them on Ebay and any money will go to the two charities that have benefitted from the auction this afternoon.
I hope Richard will approve....

Well despite my internet coming and going, I've managed to list three lots so far;
Into Space (signed by Patrick Moore), An Astronaut's guide to life on Earth by Chris Hadfield (signed) and 4 Yearbooks of Astronomy from the 1960's (not signed!!!) I'll see how they go before getting to the 1970's, 80's, 90's etc....yes, Richard liked his year books!!!!!

Amongst Richard's book I found some Annuals. Starlord 1982 which features an article on David Maloney and a picture of the Libby on the cover (a page missing plus some others loose), Battlestar Galactica and Space 1999. Now on Ebay. The four early Yearbooks of Astronomy have a bid on them. I'll have to keep a running total and then put half to the Prostate cancer and the other half to that lovely charity that took in Richard's beloved dogs.

It's heartwarming what you have done on Richard's behalf, Sue. I'm sure he'd be thrilled someone stepped up to help and contribute to charity in order to help others. Keep bumbling on! And bless you and bless Richard's memory!

Late on parade with these, but here are my photos from Smallspace:

As ever it was a lovely day with many familiar faces from Maximum Power.

Thanks for the photos, Purplecleric. We really would have liked to have been there but we could not stretch our holiday any further, much to Mat Irvine's disappointment! But glad you could go and I really enjoyed seeing the photos of the day!

Thank you for sharing your photos Purplecleric! I'm sorry I could not attend.
I absolutely love the theme of the exhibition and the models.
Moon-landing and space missions bring back many memories.

I hope a big step has been made for Richard's charity auction. (I know wonderful Littlesue is still working on that)

Thanks for the pics, purplecleric. I'd hoped to be at Smallspace this year, but couldn't make it. Well done to everybody for the Richard Bailey auction!

Two of Richard's items are due to finish tomorrow and I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that 4 of his Astronomy Yearbooks are doing very well, as are his 3 Annuals. They are finishing in a couple of days.
I've just listed 2 more books, both signed copies, and I've got to sort out the 1970s Astronomy Yearbooks. (And the 80s and 90s!!)
Oh yes, I sold the last two copies of the book that Lurena surprised me with last year and we've decided to put that £20 to Richard's Charities as well.
Only a few more to go...Richard certainly liked his books!!!!!
