RIP Rutger Hauer
Travisina
BBC news has just announced the death of Rutger Hauer at the age of 75, after a short illness.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Another icon lost. Sad

At least I was lucky enough to have worked with him in '98 on Hostile Waters, during which he happily signed my copy of Bladerunner!

Loved him everything, but especially in Blade Runner and Lady Hawk.

As a dying replicant in Blade Runner, he had the line in the script, "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... All those moments will be lost in time."

And then he ad libbed, "Like tears in rain. Time to die."
Best adlibbed line in the history of cinema.

RIP, Rutger. Sad He also appeared in Paul Verhoeven's early Dutch movies like Soldier of Orange, Katie Tippel, Flesh + Blood and Spetters. Mr Hauer later scored big time alongside Sylvester Stallone in the 1981 cult classic thriller Nighthawks (featuring a soundtrack by the late great Keith Emerson).

Wonderful actor. Very sorry to hear this. RIP.

In all honesty, Rutger Hauer's performance made Blade Runner the classic it became. One of the best ever performances in a science fiction film, if not the best. He was extraordinary.

Another favourite actor gone. So sad.
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

If the only thing he had done was Bladerunner, he would still be remembered. But against any cast, he had charisma and presence. Sad loss. RIP Rutger Hauer

I know him best as the guy in the Guinness adverts of the 1990s. I have never seen Blade Runner.

Was pretty shocked to read this. Rutger was marvellous in Blade Runner, but he popped up in other things as well. His colouring and height made you really want to look at him, and his eyes...

Another really sad loss.
