This is a different way of telling a story again. It's almost Gareth doing a solo narration of a story. Again, I wonder who he's narrating to?

He's doing one of his 'Captain's Log' things.

Or mumbling insanely in front of the camp fire on Gauda Prime Wink

You mean hes telling the squirrel a story?

I hate squirrels! Bang Bang (Blackadder reference)

I love that episode. Sausage time!
My views are my own.

VILA: I'm entitled to my opinion.
AVON: It is your assumption that we are entitled to it as well that is irritating.

Just realised why the continuity earlier on was so spot on. This is written by Peter Anghelides.

He's very good at continuity details, is Peter!

Yes. Although I think he's done better stories than this. Warship and that early Season C one with Steven. This is alright, though.

Warship is the best, I think. So neatly done, fits so beautifully between Star One and Aftermath.

Shall we do that between volumes 2 and 3? I think it was released around then.

Sure - why not.

One thing that bothers me in this story is that Blake here is an 'omniscient' narrator - that is, he knows what other characters are thinking, doing and saying elsewhere.

That's true. In "The Turing Test", Avon simply guessed what the scientists might be saying after Vila had stolen all their data. But here Blake is narrating stuff he didn't know about.

I suppose hes narrating in the past tense. So he could have found out some stuff later. Maybe. I know, Im not convinced either.

Maybe he got Orac to get the information off the planet's computer later on. Not immediately, since this is set between Project Avalon and Breakdown.

They just fall so naturally back into their roles, it's a joy to hear.
