42nd Anniversary Rewatch - B13 Star One
trevor travis
The episode: Barney Thirteen – Star One (Carry On Space Pizza Monsters)
The date: Tuesday, June 30th, 2020
The time: 7.45pm UK time

In which Travis has a really bad day; Lurena has the best-ever skincare product ever known since she doesn’t look a day older from her photo on Federation records; Avon is his usual gentlemanly self and gives Cally the primed explosives to throw over the cliff (although, having seen his attempt at running in Pressure Point, it’s perhaps the sensible option); and the Hairdryer Ship and The Cutlery Draw are involved in a big stand-off with the Libby crew.

Episode in a word: Dramatic. Or climactic. Or some other word ending with “tic”.
Character to cheer: Servalan, for using the oncoming Intergalactic War as an opportunity to seize the presidency. She never misses a trick. Bravo to her! (Is it wrong that I like the lead villainous so much? Mind you, as far as she’s concerned, she’s the hero of her own story, maintaining law and order against that murderous terrorist, Roj Blake).
Character to boo: Difficult one – everyone shines here. Probably Avon for handing Cally the explosives. Or Blake for justifying himself in such a poor way to Cally.
Recognisable Face: Jenny Twigge (Lurena) was Zammo’s mum in Grange Hill. As far as I’m concerned, you can’t get much more famous than that! Just Say No! Oh, and she was a guest at the Cygnus Alpha convention last September.
Best exchange: Oooh, tricky. But… VILA: “Avon, this is stupid!” AVON: “When did that ever stop us?”

Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Doing Watersports

Hahaha, Brad and Hugbot!!! Grin Grin

Poor Durkim - plus Brad has covered the obligatory Blackadder reference already!!

I sometimes wonder if the Blackadder character was in part inspired by Kerr Avon - all those sarcastic one liners he was famous for.

Jenny Twigge was also a recurring actor in Hadleigh (a cult Yorkshire Television show from the 70s) where she played most of her scenes opposite Paul Darrow's friend and mentor Gerald Harper.

Hi SD - welcome back!

I think Jenny Twigge has been in a load of stuff. But nothing on the scale of being Zammo's mum! Trust me, that was HUGE for my generation Wink

Hi SD - A massive welcome back from me too GrinGrin
GARETH THOMAS: Paul is a very generous man, as a human being and as an actor. The programme couldn’t have been made if we hadn’t got on. Our working relationship was magic.

Hi Everyone. I am sorry I wont be with you tonight. I have a bridge match. It is a shame because I was looking forward to comments on this one. However, I will read through them when I have completed my match.

I had seen Hadleigh s1 before, but Network but the whole lot (and Gazette) out on home media recently so it gave me a first opportunity to see the whole lot. Although I prefer early Hadleigh better, a couple of my favourite episodes were in the final series! Also, as much as the character of Jennifer Hadleigh can be quite difficult to watch sometimes, Hilary Dwyer is a favourite actor from the time!

Just got my ladle out of the cutlery draw for the big battle later on.

Does anyone have a hairdryer? I don't, because I don't need one.

Evening all! Oops

Well, it's just a costume.... just imagine we also had to bid farewell to one or two of the main characters! But they wouldn't do that, would they?
