Red Dwarf rewatch 8.8 and Back To Earth, Part 1
trevor travis
The episodes: (8.8) Only The Good... and (X.1) Back To Earth, Part 1
The date: Wednesday, October 21st, 2020

Two episodes ten years apart, as straddle the end of the BBC2 era and the beginning of the Dave era, along with taking in the alternative ending of Only The Good which I prefer to the one eventually used.

The times:
Only The Good... - 7.45pm UK time
Only The Good (alternative ending) - 8.17pm UK time
(5-minute break)
Back To Earth, Part 1 - 8.27pm UK time

Dailymotion links if you don't have these on DVD:

It's so long that I last watched all the episodes from Back To Earth onwards that I've just finished watching them, so I can do our rewatches properly and comment on the episodes rather than just watching them.

Quite surprised to remember how good some of the Dave stuff is. Especially Season 10 which seemed to have a tiny budget, so the solution was to get the characters talking to each other to very positive effect!

My overall season order (NB there never was a transmitted Season 9, we find out why during Back To Earth):

Season 2
Season 3
Season 5
Season 1
Season 10
Season 4
Promised Land
Season 6
Season 8
Back To Earth
Season 11
Season 7
Season 12

But even Season 12 has the wonderful Skipper.

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone. Just starting.
Avon: "Not enough! Not nearly enough! Dammit, what weighs seventy kilos?"
Orac: "Vila weighs seventy-three kilos, Avon."
Avon: "Vila, are you here? I need your help."

How is it we are three million years in the future and still getting 21st - 25th century pods and things?

Three million years later?

Is that the time it takes for TT to process a thought?

This vending machine scene makes me laugh! I used to have a job filling them. That vending machine would scare me!

I've got no room for The Big Book of Space...
