UK Rewatch - B6 Trial (Tuesday, May 5th)

Alpha Grade Posts: 9002 Joined: 16.01.22	The episode: Barney Six – Trial (Carry On Philosophical Flea) The date: Tuesday, May 5th, 2026 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which Blake throws a big sulk over Gan’s death and teleports down to the Planet Of Spit, where he makes friends with a Philosophical Flea. Meanwhile, Travis is in trouble. A lot of trouble. Servie has it in for him, after the previous episode. Can he escape execution? Brian Croucher still has a few episodes left on his contract, so he’s probably going to be alright. Episode in a word: Self-pity. Characters to cheer: Trooper Par seems a thoroughly decent guy – it’s nice to see below the helmet of a Federation Guard for once. And I know Travis is a mass murderer, and twice over it would seem (since this episode changes the name of Auros to Zircaster, suggesting there were TWO massacres that Travis is responsible for). But is he simply the product of a very broken system and just doing his job? He certainly puts up a very good justification for it, in a rousing speech. Kudos to Brian Croucher, who often doesn’t get the praise he deserves for his performance here. Character to boo: Yes, Blake you really should be gone for a bit of a sulk in your cabin instead of teleporting down to the Planet Of Spit, and it does come across that you are trying to manipulate the crew back on your side, after YOU caused the death of Gan with your recklessness. The previous episode and this episode represent the worst of Roj Blake. Thank goodness we see a different side in the next episode. Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face: John Bryans (Bercol) is yet another actor to appear in “Doctor Who”. He was Torvin, the leader of a bunch of thieves in “The Creature From The Pit” - if you recall that’s the one with the Creature and the Pit. Of course, he also appears again in B7 as Shrinker, a rather different role from Bercol, although still one of the Feds. Best line: “Avon’s gadget works!” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Space Michelin Men. Vote Og.

Our top story tonight, Space Commander Travis on Trial. This is Lee R Pantsonfire live from FedSat one. I stand just outside the courtroom door where Space Commander Travis is on trial for his life, charged with mass murder for his actions on Zercasta, where he executed without trial over one thousand civilians for reasons that have never come to light, except on some unofficial disks from a group known as Magnus Finis. This trial was postponed to give Space Commander Travis a chance at partial redemption by allowing him to Seek, Locate, and Destroy Blake. A task at which he failed miserably, a failure for which some councillors I have spoken to, councillors, who wish to remain anonymous, believe will not mitigate in his favor at today’s trial. In fairness, Travis did succeed in killing one member of Blake’s crew recently when the infamous dissident was foolish enough to attack one of the Federation’s most secure installations, an act of sheer bravado the Federation Councillors I referred to earlier believe Blake will never have the nerve to repeat. Oh, wait. I am hearing an alert klaxon. There seems to be… yes.. That was definitely an explosion… Bulkhead doors are closing…. We seem to be under att…. … … This is the Federation Broadcasting Corporation, the FBC wishes to apologize for the interruption in Lee R Pantsonfire’s special report, as we seem to have temporarily lost contact with FedSat 1.
