Apparently this episode was brought forward to cover a gap due to Pip & Jane Baker's "Death Squad" script falling through. If it had stayed as the eighth episode, the intergalactic drive reference would be closer to the final episode. Not that there's anything else in the other episodes to hint at reactions to an external threat.
