The episode: Barney Nine - Countdown (Carry On Ginger Mercenary) * The date: Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 The time: 7.45pm UK time Sadly, Richard Whiteley and Carol Vorderperson don’t appear, but instead the Ginger Mercenary does – I think Paula might like him. This week, we find out another way that the Federation keeps control, despite only having a handful of personnel on a planet. And poor Jenna and Cally are on Libby reception - again! Episode in a word: Grant. Character to cheer: The Ginger Mercenary, who seems to have liberated more planets than Blake (which isn’t that hard, to be honest). Character to boo: Vila is a bit thick for a second successive week. Opening the shuttle doors was stupid. Forgetting the corridor number could have been fatal to Blake. Staying alive definitely seems too complicated for Vila this week (to paraphase Avon from “Blake”). Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face / Hair: Tom Chadbon (Grant / The Ginger Mercenary) was Duggan in the classic Doctor Who serial “City Of Death”, which was filmed around six months after this. He was also in an episode of Out Of The Unknown, in which his moustache definitely looked ginger, but don’t tell Paula I said that, or she’ll chase me around with a Welsh Street Sign next time she sees me. Chadbon was also in Casino Royale for 18 seconds or something like that and in various episodes of “Casualty” for a bit longer. He appeared naked in something in the 70s, but you’ll have to ask Paula about that one! Best exchange: “VILA: “Allow me. You see - the old magic's still there.” AVON: “The old ego, too.” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Being Stupid * The wearing of Ginger Wigs is optional for this rewatch. Vote Og.

It’s 19:45 Earth Standard Time, and here is the news from Earth Dome One. I am your in-studio reporter, Lee R. Pantsonfire. Our top story tonight, Albion in open rebellion. Yes, the planet Albion is in armed rebellion against the Federation garrison stationed there. When he heard the news, Major Provine cut short his furlough where he was taking part in a three stooges cosplay competition, put his uniform on, and rushed back to his command. Unfortunately he didn’t have time to do anything about his hair. It appears the local rebels had hired a mercenary named Del Grant, but apparently only one mercenary. A spokesperson for Central Security, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told me that one Del Grant is worth a hundred untrained insurgents, and she further added, “Del Grant, What a guy.” It appears this ‘Grant’ has led other successful insurgencies as well. How is it he has not been brought to justice? Could someone high up in Central Security be protecting him for some reason, or does Del Grant simply lead a charmed life. Perhaps the latter is true, as our reporters have learned of a blood feud between Del Grant and Roj Blake’s right hand man Kerr Avon, and yet it appears that these two met on Albion and Del Grant walked away from the encounter. Unusual form for Kerr Avon, the wanted embezzler who killed the man who provided forged exit visas for himself and his lady, whose name is being withheld by Central Security. Will there be more on this story at a later date? Perhaps so, as regards Kerr Avon, Rumors of Death swirl about many of his former friends. Stay tuned for our 20:00 movie, Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou. . .  Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

(for the uninitiated, TT, Paula, And I were in Harlech, (thanks to a friend taking us to see the castle) we were walking from the car park to the castle. I am really sorry I could not take part in last night's rewatch in memory of Michael Keating. I have read through your comments and can only add that Michael was a wonderful man who seemed to enjoy talking to his fans and was always supportive of people who ran conventions. A kind man and a good actor!
I look behind me, what do I see? A pair of golden wings seem to be attached to me.

I have read through your comments and can only add that Michael was a wonderful man who seemed to enjoy talking to his fans and was always supportive of people who ran conventions.
