UK Rewatch - B10 Voice Fron The Past (Tuesday, June 2nd)
trevor travis
The episode: Barney Ten – Voice From The Past (Carry On Being Stupid)
The date: Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026
The time: 7.45pm UK time

In which Del-10 sounds too good to be true and sure enough the crew never get there; Travis wants his Mummy; Ven Glynd has had a head transplant; Blake is taken over and therefore goes along with a nutty scheme to take the Federation to court (yes, that’s really going to work, isn’t it?); and the actress playing Governor Le Grand finds a different way of pronouncing Servalan each time she says it. B7 is the best show ever, but even it can’t avoid the odd naff episode. At least, we get to RENOUNCE lots of stuff during the rewatch, while there's the option of wrapping yourself in loo paper for anyone who's interested!

Episode in a word: Alliance.
Characters to cheer: Avon, because he wears that flowing, black shirt (especially included for Littlesue). Oh, and Servie completely steals the show on the screen at the end.
Characters to boo: Where to start? OK, let’s start with Vila. I prefer Vila to be portrayed with intelligence, but playing the idiot, to avoid being given the dirty jobs. Like in “Stardrive”, when he pretends to be drunk, so that he doesn’t have to work on the hull with only Slave’s forcefield protecting him from space. He’s had the odd stupid moment in both “Hostage” and “Countdown”, but here he’s very thick indeed, as he’s duped – more than once – by the controlled Blake. Then there’s Travis. In “Hostage”, his main motivation was to get hold of the Liberator. Here, he has control of the Liberator… and then teleports off it. And that’s before we get into all the Mummy stuff! As for, Governor Le Grand, her plan is batty and the portrayal by Barbara Knorr is… er... unusual, to be kind.
Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes.
Recognisable Face: One of the main cast for a change. As most people know, Micheal Keating (Vila) was in “EastEnders” as a semi-regular character as the vicar. But he was also in a “Doctor Who” story. It was called “The Sun Makers” and was transmitted in December 1977, just a month before B7 began transmission. Furthermore, he played a rebel, while the story took place in a huge city where suppressants were pumped into the atmosphere. There, the comparison ends, because the rebellion is successful and there’s a happy ending.
Best exchange: CALLY: “What do we do?” AVON: “Locate and destroy it.” ORAC: “And restore Blake to his senses.” AVON: “The two don't necessarily follow.”

Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Space Gambling

It’s 19:45 Earth Standard Time, and here is the news from Earth Dome One. I am your in-studio reporter, Lee R. Pantsonfire.

Our top story tonight, Rebellion in Outer Gaal crushed. Yes, the turncoat Ven Glynd, who all in the Justice Department describe as a Changed Man, in more ways than one, and Governor LeGrand of Outer Gaal, have been killed by Federation Security forces while plotting open rebellion in the outer territories.

Supreme Commander Servalan led the Federation Forces.

Governor LeGrand, who before going into Politics had been a successful Margaret Dumont impersonator (for the one or two people who know who Margaret Dumont was), was attempting to turn the outer territories against the Federation with the help of Arbiter Vyn Glynd.

Notorious criminal and rebel Roj Blake was also involved, but apparently escaped at the last second due to his stolen ship’s teleport capabilities. Would- be Rebels take note: This is not the first time Blake has become involved in a rebel movement, only to run away and leave his coconspirators to face justice on his behalf.

Federation forces also spotted convicted smuggler Jenna Stannis, easy to identify as she is always the most over dressed woman who is not Supreme Commander Servalan. She, like Blake, teleported away when the situation became dangerous for the rebels.

Unsubstantiated rumors circulate that outlaw and former Space Commander Travis was also involved in some way, though others say it was Boris Karloff, Arnold Vosloo, or Imhotep himself.

Stay tuned for our 20:00 movie, another old calendar thriller, A Very British Coup.

After Del Grant last week, we have Del-10 this week.

10? That’s a challenge. But he goes. Without del-egating the task, I’ll get going without del-ay. Once we del-ve into this episode, it will del-iver much merriment, although some would be del-ighted if the whole thing was del-eted. Without del-uding ourselves, Shivan’s del-inquent disguise and Le Grand’s accent are enough to leave us in a state of del-irium and feeling very del-icate.

Hi everybody, I will try my best to be home in time, but if I do not
show up here, then be sure that I'm stuck in the traffic( like last week, it took a rewatch time to get home and then I realised that I had left my telephone at work, so I was doomed to redo the whole journey)
*No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

I won't make it tonight. Domestic duties scream for my attention. Have a good night with the mad woman, Governor Le Grand. Take my advice: go to the cinema, eat some popcorn watch...another mad woman appear on screen!

I'm being very nice this evening. I'm rewatching this episode on the computer and not the blu ray as the other TV which is normally in the bedroom...is not as we have just decorated and I don't want to ruin the nice wall paper! Also, as this is not one of my faves (only made bearable due to that rather nice computer expert wearing that lovely black flowing shirt ((thanks TT)) I have let Dearest watch the main TV,,,there's only so much he can take and Voice From the Past is not it.
Anyway, I'm just getting myself ready with tea, choccie and biccies.
Cold! You don't know the meaning of the word cold!
