The episode: Barney Eleven – Gambit (Carry On Space Gambling) The date: Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which Blake’s continuing attempts to find Star One are completely overshadowed by: (1) Avon and Vila going on a gambling spree with the help of baby Orac, (2) Servie as the Lady In Red, (3) Travis, who seems to be playing a wronged hero from a western. Now, where’s my chess set? Episode in a word: OTT. Characters to cheer: The Lady In Red. Servie is simply wonderful in the hands of Robert Holmes – pass that dictionary! Krantor and Toise are a great double act, while Avon and Vila trying to play innocent in the final scene is a hoot. Even the minor characters in this are terrific, such as the sadistic Klute, the scene-stealing Croupier, and of course, Servie's rather thick powder puff. Character to boo: Blake for not killing Travis at the end – a decision that nearly ended in the galaxy being conquered by non-hairy aliens. Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Faces: Aubrey Woods (Krantor) played the Controller in “Day Of The Daleks”, a Doctor Who serial from 1972. In that he's also under silver make-up. I’m sure I also recognise the voice of John Leeson (Toise) from somewhere. If he said “Master” or “Mistress”, it might help me remember where from! Let's ask Pasco if he knows. Best line: “When the Federation finally cleans out this cesspit, I shall have that vulpine degenerate eviscerated with a small and very blunt knife.” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Space Camping Vote Og.

It’s 19:45 Earth Standard Time, and here is the news from Earth Dome One. I am your in-studio reporter, Lee R. Pantsonfire. Our top story tonight, Freedom City Casino declares bankruptcy. It appears that some off worlders found a way to beat the Casino’s most infamous game, The Big Wheel. Unconfirmed reports place the disgraced former Space Commander Travis at the scene, as well as Blake’s Liberator. These off worlder’s, possibly members of Blake’s gang, then defeated The Peking Homonculus, pardon…. I mean The Klute, at speed chess, a feat previously thought impossible. The combined winnings were enough to render Freedom City insoluble. It is possible that Freedom City was already in financial difficulty, as it seemed odd that a state of the art facility with advanced gaming computers would, in this day and age, use 8 bit graphics for their Speed Chess game, graphics so poor as to make it difficult to tell the pieces apart. We reached out to the head of Freedom City Casino, Krantor, for comment on the gambling losses and the poor graphics, but all he would say was, “I blew it, I blew it, I blew it,” over and over. Krantor’s head of security, one Cevedic by name, was found dead. Authorities are still investigating if there is a connection. Shortly after the disturbances, Blake’s Liberator was reported fleeing Freedom City, followed closely by a lone pursuit ship, believed to be the personal conveyance of Supreme Commander Servalan, and another vessel some on the scene suspect may have been used by the renegade former Space Commander Travis. Thus, it appears Federation authorities, and one disgraced Space Commander, are both hot on Blake’s trail. If rumors of Blake’s presence are true, this is the second time this year his name has been linked to organized crime, first, with the Terra Nostra on Space City, and now with the crime syndicate that runs Freedom City.
