Starting at 7.30pm (Southern Hemisphere) and 10.30am (Northern Hemisphere) B9 Countdown It is difficult to say much about this Terry Nation episode without giving away the plot. There's a bomb. There's Blake, still trying to destroy Federation Central Control (or at least, find it). There's another of Avon's 'friends' who wants to kill him. There's a countown (see the title). There's even a happy ending, sort of, but I don't think the Supreme Commander is going to be pleased when she hears the news. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

I'm afraid I'll be missing this one too - a shame, as it's a cracking episode. Hope to see you all next week! |

It's certainly been a lot quieter with Tyce and AA deserting us. Hope they are having fun!

Hi Ms Virn, not too bad. How are you? Have just about survived the 'heatwave' the news here has been raving about. Yes, it was hot for a couple of days, but we're so far north that only means the higher 20's C. Back to normal today. Apparently there's a rumour it might even rain soon. Starting! "You're not sulking, I hope?"

That plastic desk there, has been a popular mainstay of the production. From Space Target, evidently.

Don't you wish there were still army disposal stores? Have to travel to the Stans these days for some nice discarded Russian uniforms. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Interesting how the teleport controls have shrunk a bit over time. Presumably someone broke a bit of it and they had to 'reconfigure' in a hurry. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Perhaps they were in training together - Provine a year older. Might be a ficlet in there somewhere. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

The only problem I have with this episode: the launch pad. How would that work without incinerating everything in the surrounding room, even assuming that different fuels are used by this time. Simply the energy required to lift the craft would fritz things.

I know of a couple of Tarrant-in-training fics, but not with Provine; more Travis. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

I like the sound the Liberator guns make when holstered. Definitely authentic. Better than hearing them being taken out and aimed at you. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

The only problem I have with this episode: the launch pad. How would that work without incinerating everything in the surrounding room, even assuming that different fuels are used by this time. Simply the energy required to lift the craft would fritz things. Maybe the platform it sits on is an elevator that takes it up above the launch doors. Or perhaps it has some kind of vertical take off system, like a Harrier jump jet - but yes, it's such a small room for any kind of thrust, whatever the direction. |

I can buy the idea of the platform lifting up, but a whole load of other supporting gear would need to rise with it that would do a bit of damage to that ever-so-white room. The rest of the episode is brilliant. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

How would that work without incinerating everything in the surrounding room Further thought - perhaps that's the intention. If it's only used when abandoning base, which would only be if under attack like this, then they want records destroyed, potential hostiles nearby killed, etc. A Scorched Earth escape. |
