 UK Rewatch - B12 The Keeper (Tuesday, June 16th)

The episode: Barney Twelve – The Keeper (Carry On Space Camping) The date: Tuesday, June 16th, 2026 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which someone actually notices that Jenna is a beautiful woman. Unfortunately, it’s the head of the local Rent-A-Tribe from the tents of Goth (I assume the caravans of Goth would have cost too much). Meanwhile, the search for Star One continues, Vila gets to play the fool, the S-shaped tree appears (which is still there and still instantly recognisable), and Avon and Cally have a major lovers tiff. Episode in a word: Intense (since In Tents would be two words). Characters to cheer: Gola* is rather wonderful, with Bruce Purchase ideal casting for this somewhat larger-than-life role. And, for once, Travis is one step ahead of Servie, rather than the other way around. Character to boo: Cally, for stopping Avon from shooting down Servalan’s ship, which happened to contain Travis. That would have saved a whole load of hassle in the next episode. Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face: Not long before this, Bruce Purchase (Gola) was the Pirate Captain in the Doctor Who serial “The Pirate Planet”. He even had a Robot Space Parrot. I kid you not. Best line: “I may not kill you after all. A lifetime with Gola would be very educational for you.” Just beats: “Don't leave me here, at least leave me a torch. I don't like the dark. I like to see what I'm scared of.” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Space Pizza Monsters * Other brands of space trainers are available. Vote Og.

" "Miles, if I may interrupt, did the Federation Backed Candidate win? " "Gola did indeed defeat Rod, though he was soon after deposed by his sister. Very ‘I, Claudius,’ these Goths. This after they all conspired to depose their father, an elderly dotard with a penchant for wandering up to strangers and saying, “It’s,” followed by a Sousa March about a bell." "But the real story is about a Federation Cybersurgeon named Lurgan. It seems this Lurgan may, or may not, know the location of a secret Federation Base, and that is why Travis, Blake, and the Supreme Commander were all here." “Were all there, Miles, as in Not There Now.” “Indeed, Lee.” “Then, why are you still there, Miles?” “Believe me, Lee, I keep asking myself the same question.” “We’ll send an FBC planet hopper for you, Miles, so you can continue to follow the story, wherever it leads.” “Bloddy Marvelous, Lee, Son of a…” "This is Lee R Pantsonfire signing off. Now when this aired back in 1979 I was in the maternity unit at our local hospital and they didn't have TVs in there back in the day and we didn't have a video recorder at home! Just getting ready. Tea, biccies and choccie. Now when this aired back in 1979 I was in the maternity unit at our local hospital and they didn't have TVs in there back in the day and we didn't have a video recorder at home! So I had to wait for any repeats and didn't see this episode until later and until we got one of these new gadgets and the videos came out!!! Hi littlesue that was nice who was born? I’m getting assam tea and, orange chocolate thins I plan to live forever,or die trying.

Well, I have been trying my hardest to keep my eyes open but I think I will drop off during this rewatch. No, littlesue, I'm not dropping off THAT cliff in THAT quarry. And it is no reflection on the quality of this episode. Sleep has been evading me this last week. So, it's an early night for me. Enjoy the rewatch. It's a fun episode. Bruce Purchase is wonderful.

We did a location visit here. Knew it was the right place when we found the S-Shaped tree that Vila is next to at one point!
