 UK Rewatch - C1 Aftermath (Tuesday, June 30th)

The episode: Colin One – Aftermath (Carry On Doing Watersports) The date: Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which we can get out our stopwatches to record the length of the Intergalactic War; the fates of Vila and Cally are left in the balance, while Blake and Jenna go ‘the other way’; Avon moves to top billing and gets to snog both Dayna and Servie; the local Rent-A-Tribe take their Annual Leave to go to Bamburgh beach for two weeks; Servie shoots a blind man in the back; and some curly-haired chap turns up in the closing seconds. Episode in a word: Aftermath (can’t beat the episode title in this case). Characters to cheer: Dayna is immediately likeable, while Jacs smoulders as Servie in this episode. That week must just be worth it. Character to boo: Chel needs some stress balls, like Rimmer in “Red Dwarf”, to help him chill out a bit. Grind those balls, Chel! Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face, or rather voice: Cy Grant (Hal Mellanby) was Lieutenant Green in Captain Scarlet. How cool is that? I don’t think he can be related to Del Grant, since he’s not ginger. Oh, and look out for the cameo by Captain Mike Yates and the Tereptil Leader (both from Doctor Who) as doomed Federation Troopers. Best exchange: MELLANBY: “You were magnificent.” AVON: “Not from where I was sitting.” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Space Nurse Vote Og.

It’s 19:45 Earth Standard Time, and here is the news from Earth Dome One. I am your in-studio reporter, Lee R. Pantsonfire. Our Top Story Tonight: Federation Forces Victorious. Space Command confirms that over eighty percent of the invading alien fleet was destroyed, though Federation losses are also reported to be high. As the previous regime failed to deal with the crisis of the invading Aliens, Supreme Commander Servalan was called upon to take the reins of government, and is now both President AND Supreme Commander, the first person in Federation History to hold both titles. We would be remiss if we did not compliment the new President and Supreme Commander for her stellar leadership in this crisis, and we certainly don’t want to be remiss to someone as powerful as the new President. Showing great leadership she has left Supreme Command Headquarters to personally take command of the mopping up operation. We join everyone in the Federation in congratulating her on saving the Federated Worlds from utter destruction. With her leadership, it is only a matter of time until criminals like Blake are finally brought to justice. Our attempts to contact the President and Supreme Commander have borne no fruit. No doubt in dealing with the reins of government AND an alien invasion, she has had a very busy day… or week… or month… or year… no one is quite sure. More good news, there has been no new reported sightings of Blake or his band or n’er do wells, nor his ship in some time. We will break in with more news as it develops. And don't forget those people who didn't hear the message about please staying off the beach 'cos we are filming! There they are, for all eternity, popping up on the sand dune just as that rather nice computer expert has a chat with one of Chel's chaps! According to Uncle Vere (at Teal Vandor convention in 1981) they were only noticed when the episode was being edited...too late and too costly to do a reshoot and besides, no-one will notice in 40 odd years...only the 250 people at Teal Vandor who watched the actual film footage, brought along by Uncle Vere, will know about it..... Some of us have long memories......... I wonder if they will still be there when they do the Blu-ray? Cold! You don't know the meaning of the word cold! Mr D once recalled a moment when he was injured while on location and I think it is this episode where he did his ankle in...anyway, he was apparently taken to hospital still in costume and seen by a Doctor. This Doctor then mentioned to his Daughter about the actor called Paul Darrow who turned up still in costume. The man's daughter said something along the lines of "You had Avon in hospital and you didn't get his autograph!!!!???" Needless to say, when Mr D went back to have his injury checked the Doctor ask if he could have his autograph and being Mr D...he did. Result one happy doctor because his Daughter would now talk to him and one very happy Daughter indeed!!! Cold! You don't know the meaning of the word cold!
