 UK Rewatch - C2 Powerplay (Tuesday, July 7th)

The episode: Colin Two – Powerplay (Carry On Space Nurse) The date: Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which the new curly-haired chap makes his first full appearance; Avalon has a new occupation and she dupes Vila, as he and Cally nearly become a bunch of spare parts; and Dayna shows how deadly she is, by killing a man with her knee and then throttling Mr Bronson… er, sorry… Section Leader Klegg to death. Episode in a word: Convergence (the convergence of two separate A and B plots in the final few minutes – classic Terry Nation!). Characters to cheer: Dayna continues to be rather wonderful. And Tarrant’s first full hour is one of his best - he’s a smart cookie and we’re left guessing to which side he’s on for most of the episode. Character to boo: No-one is that dislikeable here, while I refuse to include Mr Bronson... er, sorry… Section Leader Klegg. But Vila is rather gullible, to say the least – although it’s no surprise and rather in character when he gets taken in by a pretty face or two. Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face: Michael Sheard (Klegg) has been in just about everything: Star Wars, Doctor Who, you name it. But, of course, he played the evil creature in the universe… Mr Bronson in Grange Hill. The most scary teacher ever. It says much for the supreme acting talents of Michael Sheard, that within a few weeks, the whole nation was after his blood (following the death of pupil Danny Kendall) and then felt sorry that the old boy was leaving teaching after he turned a new leaf in the wake of Kendall’s death. They don’t make them like Michael Sheard any more. And in case you’re wondering from where you remember John Hollis (Lom) – it could well be Flash Gordon! Best line: “I'm not very good with pain. It's not that I'm a coward or anything. It's just that I have a very low pain threshold. Hardly a threshold at all, actually.” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Flashing Vote Og.

It’s 19:45 Earth Standard Time, and here is the news from Earth Dome One. I am your in-studio reporter, Lee R. Pantsonfire. Our Top Story Tonight: President Servalan alive and well. President Servalan, who had bravely traveled to the battle zone to personally lead Federation Forces against the invading aliens, was reported missing a few days ago. She was found alive and well on the planet Chenga. Federation authorities authorized a substantial reward to Chenga for their help in returning President Servalan to The Federation. This despite rumors that the Chengans regard offworlders and their own non conforming ‘primitive’ citizens as nothing more than Spare Parts for their medical research. This ‘reward’ was delivered by drone ships at their capital, which is also their main civic dome. Meanwhile the hunt continues for Blake and his fellow terrorists. Reports, as yet unconfirmed, suggest that a Federation death, excuse me, a Federation 'Retrieval’ squad may have found Blake’s ship. If true, this, along with Blake’s disappearance, would seem to put an end to the threat The Liberator has posed to innocent Federation citizens. In other news, also making the Federation wanted list is a Galactic Eighth fleet deserter by the name of Del Ten, excuse me, Del Tarrant. This just in, there have been a series of explosions at the Chengan capital, which is also their main civic dome. That’s what you get for mishandling our crates… and our president. Stay tuned for our 20:00 movie, Frankenstein. . .  Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |
