As a medievalist I don't object to the 'medieval society' thing - the Goths are so obviously the descendants of people who decided to go pre-industrial, and were cos-playing a 'tribal', 'dark ages' society that it's quite amusing. It would not be hard to find people who idealize such societies today, I think - and who caricature them in much the same way that the Goths do. |

A quick google, and apparently Gola sportswear is still a Thing - but less popular than it was. Oh yes. Must look through some of my old magazines (knitting, sewing) and see if it's advertised. It seems familiar. They definitely have the Kickers adverts for Vila's shoes. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Taiellin, see you are a translator, do you know any audio translated in Russian ver. of B7? Unfortunately. B7 is not really popular in our country. We have only subtitles for tv series, a bunch of videos made by the fans and a few stories made by Russian authors. The first season was dubbed, but it was hard to find. Pity, i have a friend which can't see very well, and can't read subs. but understands Russian. By the way I have Russian subs. - a friend of mine(a russian girl) translated it years ago. You have interesting connections, Intergalactic. Worked for a while in Russia, even know a few Russian words ![]() Wow! Like: Здравствуйте красотка! ![]() |

One day I should try watching Dr. Who. Maybe start at the beginning? I'm not sure where you are, but here in Australia Britbox just reintroduced the "Classic" (earlier) Dr. Who series. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

I've learned a bit from visiting several former Soviet republics, and knowing ancient Greek, the Cyrillic alphabet is relatively easy to read. Plus, having Russian-speaking friends etc. I used to communicate with a Russian jeweller and tried my best for practice. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

The impression I got was that a lot of them were Whovians who had got into Blake's 7 that way. Big Finish ran a story competition at the beginning to try and identify new talent. Predictably the 'winners' were all people who were already published. As someone said, they probably decided by throwing all the entries down the stairs and seeing which one landed the furthest away. |

That's an interesting thought. I always assume there's meant to have been some civilisation that's collapsed into barbarism or feudalism, but to think of it as a deliberate 'stylistic' choice - or even that a group of re-enactors decided to found a colony somewhere - is an interesting notion. |

Brad somewhere said that likes it(ST) even more than B7, which gives it pretty good rating. |

Brad somewhere said that he likes it(ST) even more than B7, which gives it pretty good rating. I think sometimes it depends on what you come to first. Who you first see playing James Bond or Doctor Who seems more right. I'm not saying there aren't other reasons for liking ST, or that it why Brad likes ST, but I imagine he saw it before he saw B7. I'm the other way around. (In fact, I've seen very little ST at all, apart from a couple of the movies.) |

They aired much of it here in Bulgaria, likely not the original, and I tried to watch it, but never attracted my attention. May be the original is better. |
