The most interesting unresolved question for me is what guarantees the aliens gave Travis that they would bother to provide him with the opportunity to carry out the final act rather than simply kill him.

Possibly, but their speed standarts suggest they could reach the Andromeda within days. For instance, remember the "halfway across the galaxy" in Redeption - they took it within a day, and it should be like 50-60 000 lyght years. Andromeda is about 2.5 million l.y. meaning 25-30 time as much.

A friend and I once got caught up in the Malton Young Farmers Association vintage tractor rally. We parked in a field entrance and waited for them to go past - there were about 70 of them!

I think they're kinda adorable. I like the big round one that looks like an old vacuum cleaner. Like my Mum's one from the 50s–60s that weighed a ton, then the plastic one I got in the 70s.

None of this is literal at all. Again, none of these writers had a clue about the figures. What matters is that other galaxies are the unknown and it's more than likely that ALL other galaxies are considered alien.

You've got to look at it this way: how did Liberator and Travis' craft manage to get pushed into another galaxy in Duel when we know for a fact – and knew this fact at the time (it's been known since the 1920s) – that Andromeda is the nearest galaxy to ours? How come another galaxy just popped up nearby? Not possible.
