UK Rewatch - B13 Star One
trevor travis
The episode: Barney Thirteen – Star One (Carry On Space Pizza Monsters)
The date: Tuesday, June 28th, 2022
The time: 7.45pm UK time

In which Travis has a really bad day; Lurena has the best-ever skincare product ever known since she doesn’t look a day older from her photo on Federation records; Avon is his usual gentlemanly self and gives Cally the primed explosives to throw over the cliff (although, having seen his attempt at running in Pressure Point, it’s perhaps the sensible option); and the Hairdryer Ship and The Cutlery Draw are involved in a big stand-off with the Libby crew.

Episode in a word: Dramatic. Or climactic. Or some other word ending with “tic”.
Character to cheer: Servalan, for using the oncoming Intergalactic War as an opportunity to seize the presidency. She never misses a trick. Bravo to her! Is it wrong that I like the lead villainous so much? Mind you, as far as she’s concerned, she’s the hero of her own story, maintaining law and order against that murderous terrorist, Roj Blake.
Character to boo: Difficult one – everyone shines here. Probably Avon for handing Cally the explosives. Or Blake for justifying himself in such a poor way to Cally.
Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes.
Recognisable Face: Jenny Twigge (Lurena) was Zammo’s mum in Grange Hill. As far as I’m concerned, you can’t get much more famous than that! Just Say No! Oh, and she was a guest at the Cygnus Alpha convention in 2019.
Best exchange: Oooh, tricky. But… VILA: “Avon, this is stupid!” AVON: “When did that ever stop us?”

Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Doing Watersports
Vote Og.

This search for Star One's really been a,
Great quest, but is it a war winner?
Andromedans crushed, and Travis is flushed,
Alas we say farewell to Jenna.

Really looking forward to this rewatch. Star One is one of my favourite episodes. The blood splatter! The gurgling green cabbage! The kitchen utensil spacecraft! It's got it all....

Hoping to participate in this one tomorrow. It's a toss-up between this and a re-watch of The Mike Yarwood Christmas Show 1978, with ABBA in the guest slot. 'Star One' is quite the romp - even though the main Evil Alien Spacecraft looks like something out of Paul McCartney's Frogs Chorus.

You have to choose between watching one of the best tv shows ever and watching the Mike Yarwood Xmas show featuring ABBA? There's one bjorn every minute....

Well, that's a trifle brusque for a Monday, if you don't mind me saying. The Generation Game sketch was a cringe classic. Kind of simultaneously unmissable and unwatchable (and totally unacceptable to modern eyes). But who knew that Benny had impeccable comic timing? And I have to tell you, if it were the ABBA Christmas Show with Mike Yarwood in the guest slot, there'd be no decision to make.

Imagine if Blake's 7 were Blake, Avon, Orac, Benny, Bjorn, Agnetha and Frida. Now THAT would make essential viewing.

Hi, all. Like littlesue, my B7 is running slow again, so I'd just like to say how lovely Servalan is looking, and how well she copes with the idiots around her. I like the frock overall, but the back neck fastening is a disaster. I think that's the important stuff dealt with. Not much else happens anyway.

Have you seen the My Little Pony version of one of the scenes? Brilliant, and you, Supreme Commander look fab...

Blimey – don’t let Sir Cliff see that Palmero footage. He’ll start singing ‘Mistletoe & Wine’.
