Dicken Ashworth (Gunsar) in Krull, which we watched just for Dicken Ashworth. (It wasn't worth it).

Krull, which we watched just for Dicken Ashworth. (It wasn't worth it). Deary me! The only good thing about this movie are the magnificent Clydesdales. A critic once called this mess 'committee writing'. Jumbling together elements from half a dozen successful films doesn't give you another successful film. |

I remember going to the cinema to see Krull... whenever that was. Any mention of it reminds me of that terrific little scene in Spaced where Bilbo is telling Tim about the time that he and his father disagreed about Hawk the Slayer and Bilbo punched his Dad in the face... 'I was defending the fantasy genre with terminal intensity, Tim... what I should have done was say, Dad, you're right, but let's give Krull a try and discuss it later'. Indeed, that recipe usually gives you a very bad film, which is the case here. It's like knowing what goes in a great stew, and not realizing that you actually have to cook it, so you end up with a bowl of raw vegetables, raw meat, and seasonings in a little dish on the side. . . Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

I disagree on one minor point, while the Clydesdales were indeed magnificent, the best thing about this film was the James Horner soundtrack. All that great music with that bad movie playing over it.... . . Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

Janet Lees-Price and John Bryans (Shrinker) in JUSTICE episode 'After All, What is a Lie?' from 1973 on Talking Pictures last week. The week before it was Larry Noble (Pinder). That show is like spot the B7 actor. I'm thinking of taking bets to see if anyone can guess who's going to show up next week |

Lol... my bro is getting fed up of me telling him that RB was on B7 LOL. My Dearly Beloved is moved to hysteria by my boring him with who, in whatever I'm watching, was in B7 or involved in some way, so I know exactly what you mean. Just recently, though, I finally got my hands on the DVD of Edge of Darkness; the first time I've watched it since the 1980s. Excellent show, that much I remembered, and it still was. Of course, except for the stars, I had no memory of who was in it, so I was chuffed to see this person: this person: and even this person: The one I hadn't been expecting was this person: Captured for just a second, but there he is. There's a snippet in the Extras about his work on the Visual Effects also. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Edge of darkness is on my list of rewatches so I look forward to seeing everyone. Meanwhile, I have gritted my teeth to rewatch S2 of Space 1999 ( why? I hear someone cry) and in the ep Rules of Luton (loo - tahn) David Jackson appears as 1st alien AND the voice of the tree council...yes, tree council... Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

For Paula and Brad, I greatly enjoyed Tom Chadbon as Duggan in DW. A class character well played. Part of my rewatch of Classic DW from the beginning (our family got TV in late 1964, just in time for the first screening in Oz) and catch-up on DW series I never saw owing to living in DW-free (and, needless to say, B7-free) parts of the planet throughout most of the '80s. I'm now looking forward to Duggan's reappearance alongside a future Doctor. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

There are only about 5 episodes in the entire run of The Professionals that don't have someone from B7 in them. There are also two B7 locations: Wembley Conference Centre and the Wembley Exhibition Halls, both now gone. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Paul Shelley aka Provine starts a run of appearances in Secret Army on Talking Pictures. He is very compelling as an actor. Incidentally, his brother was Francis Matthews, I just found out.

The gentle, predictable but enjoyable comedy of Johnny English Reborn is briefly enlivened for the Blakes 7 fan by Isla 'Here you must take a life' Blair.

Roy 'They're not really people at all' Evans appears briefly in Disappearing Trick, an episode of The Protectors. For fans of The Prisoner there are two Number Twos in the shape of Ed Bauer and Darren Nesbitt in the episode.

John Hartley (Grose in Moloch) as a police constable who didn't like to do much investigating! Cold! You don't know the meaning of the word cold! I watched my very first episode of Callan last night - which happened to be episode 1 of series 3. William 'I get the reward' Squire features as Hunter, Callan's boss. Russell Hunter of Robots of Death/Kaldor City is Lonely and it was an illuminating surprise to see Patrick Mower in something serious rather than the bawdy rubbish he's perhaps most often associated with, and showing that given something to work with he is a fine actor.

i think the commentator on the 2 man bobsleigh event at the Winter Olympics may be a B7 fan, after saying earlier that a competitor was "down and safe" at the bottom of the run. |

Peter Miles Aka Rontane i New Scotland Yard - one of the dozens of police shows of the 70s. Playing a weedy, whiney voiced barman rather like his character in last week's Survivors rewatch.

Started to watch The Voyage of Charles Darwin. Guess who the two male leads are? Yes, it's Leitz as Darwin and Jarvik as Captain Fitzroy! Will Darwin betray the captain? Will Fitzroy rant about what a real Man is? I guess I'll have to watch the other parts as well to find out! There was also Ven Glynd (I) as a surgeon. Oh, and Leitz/Darwin was flirting with his cousins... shades of Blake? |

Pippa Steel in Vampire Lovers (Talking Pictures). She is credited as Pippa Steele for some reason in the opening credits. Great cast including Peter Cushing, George Cole and Madeline Smith. |
