Christmas... My people have a saying: ~ one often comes to resemble one's pet ~ Can it also be reciprocal? Just take a look at their facial expression... *Roj says he will be back soon* Speech can also reflect in a name! *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

Weapon, ah this is an excellent episode! Since Roj Bear has a good relationship with Orac, he is well informed about the developments in the field of weaponry. See here what happened in the background to protect Avon's life (and the lives of the crew). The Teddy kept a close eye on the events and even dressed himself stylishly according to the theme of the episode with the Collar of Doom. Don't ask how he acquired the defensive device, after all it's B7, and the bear clearly had more sources, connections and data. *** Blake (somewhat irritated): Was it really necessary to bring your teddy? Avon: So what? When Travis marked the crew, Roj Bear managed to aim and nullify the effect of IMIPAK from an adjacent hidden niche with his KAPIMI (Key And Projector Impact Mediation Instrument) ! *** *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

Roj Bear! Finally he is back! We have come to the episode of Horizon! Have you ever wondered who really saved the day? The episode starts with some interesting footage; we see respectively Vila and Jenna mixed with a starry sky. Actually, there is a forgotten image that recently surfaced from a dusty storage: Thigh-high boots not only give you a sexy look, and if you wear a silver tunic without pockets, they are perfect for storing a teddy bear! Avon can act very tough, but it is Roj Bear who hits the targets! How come Avon missed Blake? Here is the answer! A bear jump against Avon’s arm, reason unknown, but worth a guess and/or a discussion. Not a word of gratefulness. Why is it so hard to say “thank you” ? Is that because there is any doubt about the savior? Cally and Jenna apparently have no doubts! *

Hooray, the saga continues! Great to see new Roj Bear adventures after so many months! I especially love the perfect timing of the screenshots with people gazing at our real hero. It must take a lot of effort to get that right. |

Besides, I assume Kerr Avon may be displeased with the idea: Edited by Lurena on 22-08-2023 20:04 *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

Nooooooo! That's something one shouldn't even do to the teddy bear of one's worst enemy! In particular, I don't want to be held responsible for bearicide. It's true, there was a bear head in the Observatory strip, but that was just along the lines of the 'heads only' nature of the strip where no-one has a body (with the exception of Groucho because a floating bird's head would have been too small and wouldn't immediately convey the idea of a cockatoo). |

I was reading this thread when one of my brothers walked by. He glanced at my screen and immediately gasped, “Why is there a decapitated teddy bear?!” I told him I was on the Blake’s 7 forum and he nodded and left like that alone explained everything.

Pressure Point… Roj Bear: “Can we skip this episode please? “ Even the most imperturbable of fans talk about tissues when it comes to watching this episode. And so does the usually self-controlled Roj Bear as he was fond of the Gentle Giant whose name we better not mention in full when the teddy Roj Bear is around. You may be of opinion that Avon, as well as his teddy, are not of the caring kind, but I think you may be wrong. Here is a never before published image which shows the both mourning O.L.A.G.G..A..N. (and providing tissues for all crew members) Roj Bear: “Alright, alright, you want proof that I took part in this episode? Well then, here goes. “ One should not run over the Forbidden Zone with a teddy hidden in your clothes! Here is a screenshot of Roj Bear who got dropped during the run… … and then the consequence! Avon didn’t want to risk dropping his teddy a second time, so Roj had to pass the horizontal bars by himself which he accomplished effortlessly Roj Bear was the first to find out that Central Control was fake, an illusion, just an empty room. And all that effort led to the dead of G...A...N..., an empty flight console chair, regret and Blake’s need to look for an uninhabited planet on which he can do his thinking. For sure, Roj Bear will not look for a place to think other than in Avon’s cabin! *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

Trial… Was Roj Bear involved? Sure he was! Blake was giving Zen instructions and Avon was listening in the entryway. Unseen by Avon, Blake secretly took Roj Bear for some help and company. Look at that! Blake took Avon’s teddy down with him. Blake had taught Roj Bear how to send out signals, in other words, Blake was going to use him as a homing bea(r)con. Blake wasn't paying close attention, so he gave the philosophical flea the opportunity to steal the homing bea(r)con… … Zil showed Blake where to find his stuff. Fortunately, Roj Bear was not absorbed by the Host ! Once back on board the Liberator Blake considered keeping Roj Bear for himself. Blake: “Avon, your teddy did his job well, it’s a great gadget.” Now Avon's strange hand gesture has finally been explained. Avon: “I know it will be hard for you, but give me my Roj Bear back please?” Avon was overjoyed, his little bear was safely back with him. However, Roj Bear had to promise that he never ever go out with the eponymous hero again. Avon: “That was very naughty, but you are still my bearo!” *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

I always wondered why Avon would go to such great length to rescue Blake from the planet of spit. Now we know that he actually wanted to rescue Roj Bear. This way, the episode makes much more sense! |

Quote I did enjoy the adventures of Rog Bear and glad he survived the experience! Thank you Lorna! I think, maybe Roj Bear's talent for survival is even better than Avon's... I always wondered why Avon would go to such great length to rescue Blake from the planet of spit. Now we know that he actually wanted to rescue Roj Bear. This way, the episode makes much more sense! Correctly understood, Hugbot! And this won't be the only time! *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

Finally time for a new adventure with Roj Bear! Killer! Our heroes would never have been able to end this adventure safely and properly without the actions of Avon's little teddy. After Roj had provided himself with a teleport bracelet and was safely transported with the help of his friend Orac, he stealthily joined Avon, Vila and Tynus. There he learned of Tynus' plan to start a fire. However, the clever teddy soon realized that Tynus was not to be trusted; 10 minutes to get the crystal was a bit short and maybe there wouldn't be a big fire at all. Therefore, Roj decided to stoke the fire a bit more and expand it by pouring a trail of oil into the corridor. Then he went in search of Dr Bellfriar's office... And no one, not even Avon, was aware that Roj Bear had been in action. In case you are still wondering why Avon, Vila and Blake were not infected? In fact they were! But... See here Roj Bear showing the antidote formula on Bellfriar’s paper, while Blake was snarled at by Avon for his stupid, time-consuming questioning in the last conversation with Bellfriar, at a time when Bellfriar still was able to pass on the formula. Thanks to Roj Bear they did get the formula! And thus also the antidote! ****************************************************************************** *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

It’s Hostage! Or: Some teddies need action and adventure! As soon as he found out that Travis was on the planet Exbar while Blake insisted on going to Exbar and Avon had strong suspicions that it would be a trap, Roj Bear made a proposal that, hopefully, would put an end to Travis' actions. When Blake was teleported down and things threatened to go wrong, Avon was forced to be put down as well, now knowing that he (by RB’s actions) would be responsible for everyone's safety. Roj Bear had no choice but to accompany Avon. The first thing to do was to find out where Blake had gone. Unfortunately, Avon and Vila were captured and the teddy, who had dropped himself and entered the tower unseen, witnessed their confinement in the airtight room. RB devised a plan to save at least himself and his Avon (out of self-interest). See here what actually happened and what came into Vila's view that made him to release the WORD. It was not Ushton who knocked Travis out. After all, Ushton had to take care of his daughter and protect her from the Crimos. So it was not Ushton who restored the oxygen level. It wasn't smart of Avon to stay so close to Blake; he must have been aware that Travis was targeting Blake to the desire to kill him. The inevitable happened, Avon was hit, but was slightly injured thanks to Roj Bear's test with a new protective shield under development. (don't ask how he brought it, Dayna’s answer lies in the future) All’s well that ends well, but… One should be stuck with such a teddy! ************************************************************************** *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

Roj Bear in Countdown Blake, Avon and Vila were about to be teleported to the planet Albian when Blake noticed a familiar shaped bulge in Avon’s costume. AVON "What are we after?" BLAKE "A Federation officer called Provine. His service record shows he's served with Central Control…Ehm…you’re not going to take your teddy with you, aren’t you?" It was obvious, Avon wouldn’t want to go without his “teddytool”! Roj Bear could come in handy when Avon was one hand short, was his excuse. Then an awkward encounter took place… AVON "Hello, Del. It's been a long time." BLAKE "Since what?" AVON "He once nicked my teddy!" GRANT "But you took him back sneakily! I felt cheated. We have some things to settle." There was a complication. An Federation solium radiation device had been activated and was threatening the entire planet. Kerr Avon and Del Grant were forced to combine their skills and work together. Once teleported down to the polar station on Albian and after they had found the hiding place of the solium radiation bomb, Avon asked Grant to fetch a tool. GRANT "Cripes! He brought his teddy!" But still, Roj Bear was used for work and Grant had to admit that the little bear was handy and clever. However, it was quite a job for Roj Bear. He had to investigate while Avon and Grant couldn't restrain from talking about the old days and quarrelling. Avon even consulted Roj Bear on how best to solve the problem, which irritated Grant. ROJ BEAR "There are three detonators, each activated by a plunger. If you enlarge these holes and then insert a rod, you can arrest the downward travel of each plunger. You can leave the drill in the last one instead of a rod…" The work was disrupted when the roof collapsed and the men had to take shelter from falling debris and ice. Grant took his chance to nick the teddy once again. Avon hadn’t noticed. AVON "Hell! Where is my teddy!" Grant had bad luck and got trapped by a beam; the teddy rolled out of his hands. Contrary to what he expected, Grant was saved by both Avon and Roj Bear! Once back and safe on the Liberator Grant handed Roj Bear over to Avon with a promise. GRANT "Here’s your teddy, I will never nick him again. I promise. He’s a hero! If the positions were reversed, if it were you under that beam, I might have left you, the way things were between us. Why were you helping me?" AVON "Perhaps because you once had a teddy like mine." After Grant’s return to Albian, Blake and Avon were alone in the teleport Bay. BLAKE "Are you going to tell me about Grant's teddy ?" AVON "You wouldn't understand." BLAKE "Wouldn't I?" AVON "I doubt it." ***************************** |

Roj Bear in Voice from the Past It started off so nicely, practising Cally’s relaxation exercises… … the commotion started when Blake became restless and left. AVON “These exercises of yours, Cally, do not appear to improve the temper.” ROJ BEAR (trying to concentrate on his exercise, thinking) “Hear who’s talking…” The relaxation session was disrupted and Roj Bear was pretty annoyed by this episode's bad script. He was about to rewrite this episode… No chance. Avon, who never wants to be separated from his beloved cuddly toy, especially in stressful times, hid Roj Bear in his jacket (where you could clearly see him bulging ). The poor teddy was forced to join the action on asteroid PK One One Eight. And to make things worse: BLAKE “Your bracelets and Avon, that teddy of yours too. It's too childish for you and Shivan could use some comfort from a Trauma Teddy.” Then Avon and Jenna reluctantly handed over the spare bracelets and the teddy. Roj Bear was given to Shivan, who accidentally dropped the teddy on his seat. Roj Bear quickly slipped under Shivan’s cloak, where he hid in a fold, thus hoping to be teleported back to the Liberator. Under the cloak, Roj Bear discovered the trap. The artificial arm! Once teleported back he tried to warn Avon who already thought that it was a trap. But Avon was far too busy investigating how to stop the device’s hypnotic trigger signal. He didn’t even notice his furry friend. Then the smart teddy got an idea and took out his pencil … … and wrote Avon a message. Avon was a little surprised when he read the teddy’s advice. Avon didn’t hesitate to follow the teddy’s advice, the message that said…. This episode, a little different than the teddy had imagined, but… Blake got back to his normal self. And Roj Bear himself is back with Avon. So… All’s well that ends well. Back to yoga then! |

Wonderful – two new adventures of Roj Bear! Avon's fluffy companion wearing a bobble hat and trying to do yoga cracks me up, and your version of VftP definitely makes more sense than the original. I am glad that Paula took the Countdown story in good humour. I mean, Del Grant as a bearnapper? How low can a man stoop? |
