Hi, I know a lady in Wellington, New Zealand who worked for a business in Kings Road, London called "Hardcore Leather" during the late 70s. The business made leather costumes for the BBC, including Blake's 7. She brought in 2 concepts which were turned into costumes for the show. Does anybody recognise these costumes? If so do you know a series/episode that I can see the finished product in thanks? They look to me like system guards from Redemption. I think the same or similar costumes were used in a DW episode, maybe The Pirate Planet. And maybe also The Armageddon Factor . . Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

Yay thanks Brad! I don't know the episodes by name but Redemption is s02e01 according to IMDB. Plus they have a photo of the gimp dude. I will watch the episode thanks https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0500257/ |

Not to put a cat amongst the pigeons, but the second drawing reminds me a lot of Doctor Who's Pirate Planet and the Captain's costume, the Captain being played by Bruce Purchase. The drawings just don't seem to remind me of any costumes in Blake's 7.

The cat is welcome amongst the pigeons! The company the woman worked for did some Doctor Who as well! I watched the episode Redemption last night and I noticed that the gimpy guys were wearing some kind of elasticated knit wear with shiny plastics on top. Also "Hard Core Leather" who she worked for only did leather. So thanks Brad and Paula I will pull down Pirate Planet and check that out thanks. Also I'll pull down Armageddon Factor as well thanks. |

That's a match thank you Brad and Paula. The captain's guards from "The Pirate Planet", Doctor Who. The woman will think I'm a genius. https://www.dropbox.com/s/m0tkama813t....png?raw=1 |

Well, very glad my wild stab n the dark was right. It seems indeed the photos match the design drawing! Amazing. Thank you, Supreme Commander. We do try our best- and it doesn't hurt we've been British sci-fi geeks for decades and can often spot things for what they are. I can't say if that's good or bad, but we are always glad to try and help! Now, my little Orac implant says to go away as I'm busy pondering black holes, red stars and Newcastle brown bottles..... Brad and Paula, here is the background music for your basking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0YLe...0YLevRJ1nA (I suggest pouring a bourbon and cola beforehand). |
