 UK Rewatch - B7 Killer

(yup, episode B7 of B7!) The episode: Barney Seven – Killer (Carry On Space Michelin Men). So, yes, it’s episode B7 of B7! The date: Tuesday, May 14th, 2024 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which we meet an “old friend” of Avon; Blake tries to stop a whole Federation colony dying from an airborne Space Coronavirus (answers on a Space Postcard as to how Blake, Avon and Vila avoid catching Space Coronavirus) ; and June’s Hudson most outlandish costumes appear! Episode in a word: Plague! Characters to cheer: Blake is quite selfless here – he puts himself at risk to try to save Fosforon. I just wish he didn't interrupt Dr Bellfriar at the end. Bellfriar is a sign that the Federation can have some quite decent people working for it. Character to boo: Tynus turns out to be a bit of a toe-rag. Mind you, I get the idea that most of Avon’s circle of ‘friends’ are all as self-serving as each other. Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face: Ronald Lacey (Tynus) played the Bishop Of Bath and Wells in “Blackadder II”. That involved threatening to put a red-hot poker up some rather unfortunate places, and he ended up with him in bed with Lord Percy. Oh, and a bonus in this episode. Not necessarily a recognisable ‘face’ as such, but Morris Barry (Dr Wiley, the autopsy bloke) directed a classic Doctor Who serial, “The Tomb Of The Cybermen” back in the mid-60s, before turning his hand to acting. Best line: “When Avon holds out the hand of friendship, watch his other hand. That's the one with the hammer.” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Kissing Cousins Vote Og.

I may be a bit late to the party for this episode as I have an appointment at 7pm in Havant with the nice chappie who did my Thyroid op. Now if I had a teleport.........

June’s Hudson most outlandish costumes appear! I've got a theory about how this came about... The scene: A BBC rehearsal room. Vere: "Okay Mike, at this point you notice Tynus's drawing of a grasshopper and say your line. And... action!" Vila picks up the drawing pad, glancing at it as he says - "A man who sketches insects must have an eye for-- huh?" Vere: "What is it, Mike? Is something the matter?" Michael Keating shows him the notepad. "These aren't drawings of insects! They're costume designs!" Meanwhile, down the corridor, a number of actors are trying on their costumes. They're all surprised to find the outfits make them all look like cockroaches and other bugs. Paul Daneman: Are you sure these are our costumes, June? I look like an albino grasshopper! And as for Lacey the Locust over here... Ronald Lacey: Never mind me, have you seen the larvae rescue crew? Space weevils to a man! Assistant Seamstress: I had them made up per the designs you gave me, June. Look! June changes to her biggest pair of glasses and peers at the pad. "I don't understand it! These aren't my costume designs! They're... insects!" |
