Thursday 2nd April 7.45pm I, Clavdivs ep 1
OneSparePart
To a certain generation of tv viewers, Robert Graves' I, Claudius, as shown on BBC2 in 1976, will always be called I, Clavdivs. That is because we are a bunch of buffoons with a hankering for great, classic drama.

There are 13 episodes.
CB has suggested watching them in batches interspersed with light relief tv or film. It is up to us to decide.
In the meantime, I need to warn you of 2 things.
1. My links to streaming sites are notorious for not working. Luckily, we have M'Virn* keeping a sharp eye on this kind of thing.

2. The episodes are not in order but are listed clearly. Be careful or you'll be getting your Caligula before your Agrippa.

*or whatever name she chooses to go by. Maybe we can come up with a Roman variant?

It's taken me 3 attempts to get a working link. Where is a good link to be found?.... Blakes 7!! The tv series that has everything.

If the above link doesn't work, our own, our very own, resident hero(ine) will sort it out. Just because she can and in no way to save my face. Ladies and gentlemen (and c.bazza), I give you M'Virn*

Blimey…some people don’t know their asp from their Elbe. One Of These Days you’ll get something right. Link looks surprisingly functional. You can put aside any thoughts of openly sobbing publicly.

As for a Roman nickname for 'er mainly outdoors, maybe M’inerva.

M'in for short?

M'in? And I suppose you think Mr Virn would be Henry? Or is that a reference too far for you whippersnappers?

How about 2026 in Roman numerals. It's:

MMXXVI

M'Crvm surely. Or maybe jvst on Thvrsdays.

How abovt..........M'ess. Short for Messalina (of covrse). Maybe even M'essy (as a token of ovr affection; seriovsly!).

Or even Ms M'ess.

Think of the downsides of living in Roman times. Toilets with no V-bend. South American countries called Vrvgvay. Irish rock bands confvsed with ballistic missiles. Fv*k me, I'd rather be on a German V-boat.

Edit: Anyone up for rewatching Zvlv?

Shame the rewatch is tomorrow and not today, because otherwise you could have had M Fool as part of the rewatch!

I'm happy to take one for the team and be A Fool tomorrow. King for a day, of course. I've often thought the arty-crafty M Kid could be M Broidery. As for OSP.... all I can say is F inell.

M Ulsion and M Otional are two other possibilities. I imagine she feels the later after watching "Blake", although maybe M Boss is happy to see all the rebels shot down!

Or, after Blake, she can be M'Bop cos she will be doing the victory dance.

Cutting through the noise and, personally, sticking with M'in. Min also being an Egyptian god of fertility.

First thing you see when you walk into the Egyptian galleries in the Ashmolean Museum. Blimey flippin' Charlie. Not a sight you forget easily.

Amazing, the quality of the images being sent back from the Artemis II mission. Well, from the good ship Orion, to be exact.

I'd like to watch some of the footage but the commentary gets on my nerves. It like the Apollo missions never happened.

Salve!

Don't forget to look out for the huge Janus.

Don't forget the episodes are arranged in haphazard order on internet archive, for some reason. They appear to be numbered correctly but just in case, ep 1 is called A Touch of Murder.

They're Americans, my dear, They have this culturally-driven need to make everything terribly dramatic and exciting. Turn the sound off, use subtitles, and then ignore them most of the time.

Claudius has got more names than Servalan’s hitlist.

In my experience, you always need to watch out for Agrippa
