 UK Rewatch - B7 Killer (Tuesday, May 12th)

(yup, episode B7 of B7!) The episode: Barney Seven – Killer (Carry On Space Michelin Men). So, yes, it’s episode B7 of B7! The date: Tuesday, May 12th, 2025 The time: 7.45pm UK time In which we meet an “old friend” of Avon; Blake tries to stop a whole Federation colony dying from an airborne Space Coronavirus (answers on a Space Postcard as to how Blake, Avon and Vila avoid catching Space Coronavirus) ; and June’s Hudson most outlandish costumes appear! Episode in a word: Plague! Characters to cheer: Blake is quite selfless here – he puts himself at risk to try to save Fosforon. I just wish he didn't interrupt Dr Bellfriar at the end. Bellfriar is a sign that the Federation can have some quite decent people working for it. Character to boo: Tynus turns out to be a bit of a toe-rag. Mind you, I get the idea that most of Avon’s circle of ‘friends’ are all as self-serving as each other. Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes. Recognisable Face: Ronald Lacey (Tynus) played the Bishop Of Bath and Wells in “Blackadder II”. That involved threatening to put a red-hot poker up some rather unfortunate places, and he ended up with him in bed with Lord Percy. Oh, and a bonus in this episode. Not necessarily a recognisable ‘face’ as such, but Morris Barry (Dr Wiley, the autopsy bloke) directed a classic Doctor Who serial, “The Tomb Of The Cybermen” back in the mid-60s, before turning his hand to acting. Best line: “When Avon holds out the hand of friendship, watch his other hand. That's the one with the hammer.” Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Kissing Cousins Vote Og.

It’s 19:45 Earth Standard Time, and here is the news from Earth Dome One. I am your in-studio reporter, Lee R. Pantsonfire. Our top story tonight, Plague on Fosforon. Federation ships have been unable to make contact with Doctor Bellfriar, head of the research station on Fosforon since a plague warning was issued earlier today. All that is known for sure is that Blake’s ship was seen in the area about the time the plague warning went out. It is believed that all present on the station died from the plague, despite the very best in personal protective equipment provided by the Acme Vinyl Tent company, the Michelin Landing Gear Consortium, and Headbands R Us.. The only persons known to have been on Fosforon and survived the plague are Blake and his crew. We leave our listeners to draw their own conclusions. Notable dead include Commander Tynus of the Bishopric of Bath and Wells, Dr Belfriar, rumored to be related to Tsar Nicholas the Second if you believe the rumors from Oh, What A Lovely War, and Doctor Gambril, who will not collect his pension. I wont be with you for this. It is my Garden Club meeting. A talk on how to enhance a small garden. I am hoping to get some tips!! Killer is good up to a point, but I always get the point of shouting at the screen because the writers hadnt a clue on the way viruses spread! I look behind me, what do I see? A pair of golden wings seem to be attached to me.
