GREECE MEGAMIX: The Dark Side of the Sun ep 3: Thurs 15th Oct, 7.45pm
Cygnus Bazza
So...what did we learn last time?

- OSP’s USP is ESP
- AA has the ability to shock the world with her punctuality
- For M’dea and Mr M’dea, much of Christmas time is likely to be hammer time as they while away the bleak midwinter delighting in ‘Ding Dong Dulcimer on High: Dulcie Dulcimer’s 50 Christmas Dulcimer Classics’

Turns out Episode 3 isn’t called Keep It Under Your Hjat! after all, but No Stranger By Night. First aired on September 20th 1983. What were we all doing then? I’d imagine:

- M’dea was constructing her own dulcimer
- AA was surprising people by turning up on time somewhere for once
- OSP instinctively knew both these things were happening from several hundred miles away
- Me? I’d just started grappling with barbarians. And hoped they wouldn't grapple back.

Just to save a bit of time this evening, I'll do everyone's first post for them:

M'dea: this'd better be good...
AA: six minutes late - signal failure at Gerrards Cross
OSP: reportin' for duty and keepin' it real, innit - booyakasha!
CB: chunter-chunty-chunty-chunter...

You're so welcome.

So so so do SO looking forward to this episode. We're hitting the halfway point and with the decent pacing we've had so far I think something is going to happen tonight. I may be wrong but I'm still going to enjoy it.

All set for Lift Off, but not with Ayesha.

Sadly, the dulcimer is not completed so I am unable to bring you my rendering of the Greek-type background soundscape. You'll just have to imagine it.
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

FYI, I'm starting at 7.45 even if no one else is, then not stopping till 8.37.

Good idea. Further more, I have pre listened to the intro.

Da-doo Don Don Don is the Phantom Photobomber of old Lindos town

Things’ll escalate further when Don’s phantom starts flinging flans

I’m not convinced by their unconvincing accents

The BBC really is more like a collection of 'Old Boys' with the same people appearing in everything.

When Egan half-closes his eyes to look sinister, he just looks a bit drowsy. Like he’s taken meds you shouldn’t use before operating machinery

I used to like that. It was comforting plus there were so many decent character actors then.

Where is Gerrard's Cross, CB? Nowhere near York, I think.

I am late - sorry - because I was distracted by a fire engine pulling up outside my house. I went to look, but no sign of a fire, and no sign of any urgency - the driver seemed to be sitting in his cab doing paperwork.

It's OK as long as he doesn't show it to anyone else

Fire engine has just driven off up the street - fairly slowly, but with blue lights flashing. No idea what is going on.

Any excuse will do for a late train. That's a Reginald Perrin excuse btw

It's their practice night. The rest of them are still trying to find the right location.

He's a phantom with a one track mind then.

This tune’s called ‘Plinky Plonk, Plonky Plink, Plinky Plonky Plonk Plink’. But so are all the others.

Remind me. I'm at the beginning - are we in the UK or in Greece?

Just be thankful he's not a batter pudding hurler. (Obligatory Goon Show reference).
