See, what I am worried about is that plutonium in the loch - what damage did it do in the time it was in there?

Jedburgh had packed it in chalk as a filter/protection so damage would have been limited

For how long? I just don't believe that. They seem to have been being as criminally reckless as the people who were running Northmoor.

Well,now...

Nothing to be ashamed of there. I hope people plant a tree over my body when I go. Looking forward to it.

'Scaring' and 'killing' are two different things.

I think I read somewhere that that was the original plan.

I will always think that happened.

I'm afraid that I will always think that I don't care. Still, for four episodes I did care, and did enjoy it - perhaps I could invent a better last two? And it was an interesting rewatch.

Aside from the 'entertainment', what was this about? The dangers of plutonium? Of megalomaniacs? Of government collusion? Of double-agents? Golf?
How has anything change since?

The black flowers were a mistake, IMO.

Every generation since WW2 asks the vital questions about what damage we are doing to the planet. Some progress is made but we are not going fast enough. Now it is a race against time. I think the planet will win but at what price?

But, what had actually changed at the end? Anything much? The hush-hush had contained the plutonium project, but might it not just start up again somewhere else? And a lot of people had been poisoned - not ot mention all the people they came into contact with etc.

I love the way anything that happened in the 'north' didn't affect the people in London AT ALL.

I think the status quo of the ending was a warning to the audience.

I don't think people can cure the problem.

Which had no effect, really.

The tree would have made more 'sense' given the reference to Craven having to be strong like a tree by the child Emma.

Yep - probably most of what the whole thing was getting at.

Agreed. We ARE the problem.

M'virn - thanks again for suggesting this rewatch. It has been great. They don't make shows like this very often. I absolutely love it.

As Avon said, 'We are irritating the atmosphere, and it's scratching...'

I'm going to have to leave you. This was a great rewatch, great series and great company.
Although I hope we can get it out of our system in time for 'Children of the Stones', which probably won't have quite the same punch, being written for children.

Goodnight. Sleep tight.

Oh dear, the cat is getting upset with me because I've been sitting at my desk all evening and not on the sofa! I can give her five minutes attention now, I think. Thanks for the rewatch! Do we meet again on April 13th for Children of the Stones?
