Classic Star Trek rewatch #6 S02E05 Amok Time
M1795537OCVirn
Thursday 24th August 7.45pm (BST)

When Spock begins to act illogically, Captain Kirk is astounded to discover the cause of his strange behaviour: the Vulcan is literally dying to get married. Accompanying Spock to his home planet, Kirk witnesses an ancient wedding ritual, but finds that being best man is not without its dangers.

We still have a couple more Classic ST's from CB's original list to rewatch, and he suggested another one (can't remember what it was - please resend). Does anyone object to extending this run of rewatches? If not, are there any other favourites we need to rewatch?

I don't think Devil in the Dark is on the list.
Conscience of the King?

Just as 'Mirror, Mirror' gave us Spock's Beard, so 'Amok Time' - also known as 'Scotty's Day Off' - gives us T'Pau. Nurse Chappell pushes too far and her dreams turn to china in her hand, while the stuntmen definitely earn their wages - which is more than you can say for Chekhov's barber.

My suggestion for a 'supplemental' was 'Day of the Dove' as our schedule needs to up its Klingon content. I can get behind 'Devil in the Dark': there simply aren't enough pergium mines on TV these days. 'Space Shakespeare' - I mean 'Conscience' - too: it'd make a change to watch something about a string of unexplained deaths somewhere other than Midsomer. Plus the one where Kirk beams down to planet Virn and discovers who the mysterious 'AL' is.

Thanks for the ideas. They are now on the list, and perhaps we should agree that ten Classic ST's is enough for now? We can always go back and have another block of them someday.
Weren't we supposed to be rewatching the Prisoner? And what's this about Babylon 5?

Probably won't make this Thursday. Well, at least I'll be able to dodge the flying Vulcan soup.

Both The Prisoner & Babylon 5 have been regularly bandied as rewatch options by sundry Horizoners (although personally I'd sit them out).

I'm thinking I might just start on time. That'd show 'em. Except there aren't any them. CB definitely otherwise engaged he PM'd me his apologies.

Well, I now have a passport, so can prove my existence and get a DRB check. I might be in York, or I might have to uproot to Aberystwyth with less than a month's notice. So, anything could happen!

Avon not enough for you?

M1795537OCVirn
Stop being melodramatic Spock - you're only half Vulcan. The human half can tell Jim what the problem is.

I think this might be the episode which made an elderly South African cousin who was staying with us when I was about 14 exclaim 'Oh poor Mr Spock, oh fie!' My brother and I could hardly keep a straight face.

That's it, Jim. Use logic to make him explain something illogical.
