Is that a typical example of the dialogue from Plan 9? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5_Yj...5_YjTdgep8 |

We recently watched the Riff Trax version of Plan Nine. It was hilarious. My favorite line is 'Stupid Stupid Stupid'.

Great comics again. Make me smile for hours after reading this thread! Thank you so much! Plan 9 made it to Germany? On behalf of America, I humbly apologize. As far as I know, it never got theatrical release in Germany. About 20 years ago, a TV station showed Tim Burton's Ed Wood - followed as a special gimmick by Plan 9. That's when I watched it. Hold your breath! But Plan 9 From Outer Space is being turned into an opera. The legendary, and legendarily bad, cult film from 1957will get the classical music treatment courtesy of Thai composer, and B-movie fanatic, Somtow Sucharitkul. Plan 9 From Outer Space: A Really Grand Opera by Somtow Sucharitkul is currently in the libretto stage. Rehearsals will begin in earnest next year. Sucharitkul plans to release a teaser “suite from the opera” and to premiere the full opera in 2024. Torsten Neumann, director of the Oldenburg Film Festival, Germany’s leading indie film fest, is producing. *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

Have we solved the mystery of the missing reactor? It was stolen by irate hotel guests to prevent middle-of-the-night science experiments? As always I am impressed by your attention to detail. The mass spec looks quite similar to the ones in my real-life lab. Thanks. The drawing is based on a 6495C triple quadrupole mass spec from Agilent Technologies coupled with a 1290 Infinity II HPLC. Ohhhh... That one... Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

Sorry to bring this up, Paula, but you mentioned it yourself at the last Moloch rewatch: ![]() Well, that was a surprise reading your comic today, Hugbot. And I prefer 'great' to 'large' like in Kaiser Wilhelm der Gross..... <grin> Do you remember all of our conversations in their entirety? I'm amazed! Huggy is Mr (evil) Memory Man... Thanks. The drawing is based on a 6495C triple quadrupole mass spec from Agilent Technologies coupled with a 1290 Infinity II HPLC. Ohhhh... That one... It's easy to get them mixed up, isn't it? I'm always confusing the triple quadrupole model with the quadruple tripole. And don't get me started on whether it's the 1290 Infinity II or the 1291 Infinity III! |

I was hoping we'd see Og leaning into shot and frowning in that last panel. And what's the object on the floor next to TT? I've been meaning to ask since last time. Is it a clue or just a slice of pizza? ("I'll just leave this for later, here on the floor." Delicious isn't the word!*) Well folks, what will happen in the next exciting instalment? Will Sherlock Holmes return to solve the crime, or will it be up to our zany gang of Horizonites? Will the baddie turn out to be ze Fluute? Will they solve it by peeking ahead several strips? What will they do for power now? * Neither is tasty, healthy, safe, etc. |

There is also blood on a piece of the glass still in the frame and mud (or possibly surprise poo) on the bottom of the window. Sadly as it is the power source for my portable lab that has been stolen it will be difficult to analyze these clues. |

Egad Holmes, is there no end to your talents? Very astutely observed, Ellen. So, you're saying we can see blood because it was the work of a mutoid? Or perhaps even an, ahem, putoid? Er, I think we'd better abandon this line of questioning. Now, obviously it must have been someone familiar with the topography of the lady's boudoir and... er, I think we'd better abandon this line of questioning too. |

I hate to point out at this stage. I am very much at fault here. A valuable portable reactor and no bars on the window!! I should have asked Paula to keep guard. She would have chased any intruders away with her Welsh Sign!!

She would have chased any intruders away with her Welsh Sign!! I'd do more that that, Lorna. I'd give a giant karate chop -while saying out loud 'karate chop'- to anyone who touched the machine and then hit them over the head with my Welsh Street sign. Just ask TT, when I walloped him a con or two ago just for being smart about Del Grant! Resist the Host

So we are looking for someone who takes sugar in their coffee. Or is the coffee stain a red herring (like the red paint)? |

So we are looking for someone who takes sugar in their coffee. Well spotted! (Not surprisingly, since you are the expert.) Or is the coffee stain a red herring (like the red paint)? Let's see... there are still two more clues at the crime scene. |

He's a charismatic chap, that TT. He suggests they go to Montreal and everyone agrees, as if he's said "Let's go to the pub." (Gosh - maybe they think they are going to a pub. Aren't they going to get a surprise when they turn up in Canada? "I thought it was funny we got on a boat!") And knowing Huggy's propensity for Easter eggs, I'm wondering about the name of that vessel. |

And knowing Huggy's propensity for Easter eggs, I'm wondering about the name of that vessel. It's not so much an Easter egg as a bit of self-indulgence. The design of the Anderson is based on a ship that I built of Lego in my primary school days: ![]() It even had an appearance in one of the comic strips I "drew" at the time. There was also a "technical" drawing accompanying the strip: ![]() I have no idea how I came up with the name. One might think that I named the yacht after Ian Anderson but I didn't know Jethro Tull at the time. Probably I just misspelled the name of H. C. Andersen. |

Thanks Huggy. That's great, what a fun thing to include. Hans Christian Anderson was my first thought. I wondered if it was a joke about the characters being disembodied heads with no hands/Hans, but it didn't really seem to fit so I discounted it. I suppose if you had known Jethro Tull at the time, the ship design would have incorporated some form of seed drill. |
