We're going to watch two episodes: Babylon 5 Rewatches suggested by AA: S01 E03 Born to the Purple Londo's career as an intergalactic ambassador is on the line when a seductress schemes to retrieve incriminating information from him. For those who haven't lashed out and bought the whole thing, find this on dailymotion: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8h...eo/x8h1hgb And S01 E06, Mind War A rogue telepath (William Allen Young) on the run from the Psi police seeks help from his former lover, Talia Winters (Andrea Thompson). Walter Koenig ("Star Trek" ) appears as Psi Cop Bester. Link: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8h...eo/x8h1hfp Edited by M1795537OCVirn on 11-10-2023 21:37 "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Did you mean to put the 19th as the date? Oh dear. That's what comes of trying to do three things at once. Sorry. I'll fix it. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

I have just replied to your message, but I'm not sure that it's got through. I suppose the first episode that really contributes to the story is 'And the Sky Full of Stars' (which I missed out of my message, sorry), but I have a weakness for 'Born to the Purple' (S1, E3), which does give you a lot of insight into Londo, and then 'Mind War' (S1, E6), which introduces Bester (played by Walter Koenig) and also has the first intimation that G'Kar is not just a scenry-chewing villain. |

It did reach me, but I didn't have time to answer it until stupid o'clock this morning, so I thought better of it. Thanks for the suggestions, and SEE ABOVE "You're not sulking, I hope?"

thought I was going to be late, didn't you? Well, I'm here, ready to do battle with rogue psi types. It'll make a change from Cally always getting taken over by someone else.

No Psi types in this first one, though. |

It is not worth getting to know Ko Dath. She meets with an accident involving an airlock, and is replaced by the (slightly) more amenable Na Toth. |

I have been looking forward to this. Had my first day's supply teaching here - got a phone call at 7.30 to say could I be at Easingwold at 8.30 - I made it by 9, which I think was not bad. It was fairly chaotic, but no-one actually burnt the school down, which I am taking as a win. |

OK, I'm finally past the credits. I like the premise of B5: a place where anything could happen, really.

One of the things I like about B5 is the commercial use of telepaths - this is very much neither a utopia nor a dystopia, but a world very like our own, just with more advanced technology. |

I have a Babylon 5 cookbook, that I bought in a moment of weakness. It tells you how to make hot jala, amongst other things. |

Yep, just like our world - slavery mopping up the destitute and giving them a place, as it always used to until the West discovered morals.

You do realise I haven't watched B5 before, don't you? No spoilers, please. And don't tell OSP.

Paper newspapers are one of the things B5 gets very wrong. Garibaldi turning straight to the sports pages is not. |

I don't think Ko Dath's fate is much of a spolier - this is her last appearance (the actor clearly wasn't keen on the makeup). She deserved it. I have watched a few bits of B5, but never had time to focus on it properly. We didn't have a TV for a long time, and I guess I've never really developed a binge-watch habit. I do wonder how people manage to watch so much TV and remember every detail. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

It tends to start with stereotypes as a shortcut, and then gets more complicated. |

The insectoid crime boss vanishes after the end of this season - I think he was too expensive. |
