Robot vs the Aztec Mummy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7F1T8...F1T8YOMtvE

1958 Mexican science fiction horror film directed by Rafael Portillo, and starring Ramón Gay and Rosa Arenas.

A mad doctor builds a robot in order to steal a valuable Aztec treasure from a tomb guarded by a centuries-old living mummy.

This one has just about everything! And since it's 'horror SF' probably not for the faint-hearted. But if you watched 'Animals' and survived, you should be OK.

Yes, the Robot vs the Aztec Mummy is known to us. It's a real dog of a film but should suit us well for our little gang of 'film riffers'. Looking forward (?) to it.

Phew! Had a bit of a panic earlier today when our internet and even the landline stopped workiing. Had to steal some wifi from the nearest uninhabited holiday home to make a few phone calls....and we're back. Well done to our ISP and 'Open Reach'. (The electricity people are digging holes in the road not far away - coincidence??*).

Looking forward to this one. Have to admit I lost track a bit during my first viewing of it. Don't think I fell asleep, but I know I ended up a bit confused. Still, it all counts.
Onward!

* and of course they've waited until it's half term so that the place is crammed with tourists. Jammed-up traffic all over the place around their 'temporary' traffic lights etc.

Hello, I'm here. This film looks like a winner. Saw it years ago and for some unknown reason can't remember much. <grin>

There is nothing like a Mexican film, unless you have seen a South Korean one or a Russo-Finnish one, or an Italian one! They're not the best at block-buster hits.

Why do imminent scientists always look like nerds? Look at the goggle glasses and bow tie on that one!

The singing has so little to do with the accompaniment. It's a masterpiece!

We watch these type films all the time and I often turn to Brad and say 'they just don't make movies like this anymore' and he replies, 'thank God'.

Directed by Rafael Portillo, he never made a bad film. In fact he probably never made a film again...

Oh, there is always a little kid in these who knows it all. Especially in Kaiju films (Godzilla) We'll call him 'Kenny'.

Do they really think really wide jodphurs are less offensive than a woman wearing trousers?

The subtitles said (tense music), and I cannot disagree.

Not aa such. But they sure saved money by shooting in the dark for the most part, or was it the sets were so bad, they were trying to hide them?
