Thoreau said 'Most men lead lives of quiet desperation'...something that this series brings out very nicely. They are all trapped in situations thay can't control. Some of them think they can, but then things happen that prove they aren't. And we can substitute our own names in there, too.

Only Nina Simone could finish an episode like that. Unfirtunately it gets cut off because they want to start the next episode immediately. Yes, it even does that on the dvd boxset version. I never liked it 20 years ago. Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

OK, then. Time to see what's been happening in the real world while I've been here with you. See you next time. Or Saturday. Or Tuesday. Or Wednesday. OR all of them.

As to how it all ends up...all I will say is I choose to believe in something that cannot possibly be because the alternative is too terrible for me to contemplate.

But LoM succeeds on more than one level. Not just the real life aspect but also how we watch tv shows of that era. It pays homage to them but also challenges our perception of them.
