They're trying to quaff, but they're no good at it.
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

I’ve always wanted to see an archbishopric held by an Archbishop Rick. Possibly Wakeman. |

It looks like sir Richard came to ask Robin for help. I like more the story I have read. In that story outlaws found sir Richard and asked him to come with them. He was really lucky, but he didn't want to ask Robin of anything. |

Huntigdon - Biggleswade, St Neots, Sandy . . . Royston, Foxton... Shepreth, Meldreth! Barton, Coton... And things are done you'd not believe, at Madingley on Christmas Eve! Tell me about it. I was at Churchill! Clare Hall, myself. |

Was the word office used at that time? Yes, but not with 'Microsoft' in front of it. Yes, it would be strange. |

Actually, this is my favourite episode so far. But, as Billy Joel would say, Don't Ask Me Why. |

No wonder women went to be a nun. Nun is better than what these gits are offering Marion.

Was the word office used at that time? Yes, in Latin it was, and in this sense. Edited by AnneArthur on 21-08-2025 19:27 |

Was the word office used at that time? Yes, but it meant a job, a commission, a position of authority. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Was the word office used at that time? Yes, but it meant a job, a commission, a position of authority. And some sorts of church services/rituals. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Officium (says the Dictionary of Medieval Latin from British Sources): 1) act of kindness, favour, service. 2) duty, obligation, task. 3) divine office. 4) function, use, working. 5) trade, craft, profession, business. 6) position of power, trust or authority. 7) department of household, office. 8) place in which work is done. 9) official, officer. For 7 and 9 all examples postdate our period. Edited by AnneArthur on 21-08-2025 19:35 |
