Ivan Thursday 11th September: Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession

Alexander Demyanenko (Shurik) is famous as a comedy actor. There are a few other comedies with him. Maybe we can watch them someday, if you like this one.

OK Roxy - turn yourself into a fancy hat.

It would have been difficult to create the same effects on stage. No wonder the film was more popular, really.

That was great fun - just what I needed tonight!

Thank you for suggesting it, Taiellin.

A lot of phrases became rather popular.

Reminds me of the madcap comedies of 60s/70s hollywood. Like What's Up, Doc?

I don't know many foreign comedies, but I definitely enjoyed the movie How to Steal a Million.

I think you'd like What's Up, Doc? It's a classic of its kind.

Nope. (His first book of the compass trilogy was fascinating. After that it went downhill, and the screen versions lose most of the good bits. Some of his other stuff is just nasty. IMO!).
Dust is a whole channel dedicated to short sf films, often by amateurs with a very small budget. From horror sf (which I don't watch) to comedy (especially the Aussie ones) and most points in-between. Unless you have something better?

Dust sounds great fun! I'm not a big fan of horror either - how about another comedy?

Is that OK,then? I'll find a couple of DUST shorts for next time and see where we go from there?

Sadly I think next week is one of the weeks I have a meeting - but I can always watch what we decide to see anyway.

Not too scary. More thrilling. Usually interesting. Always imaginative.
