FESTIVE FRIGHT-NIGHT LITE: 7.45pm Thursday 4th December
Cygnus Bazza
Remember the good old days? Remember 'The Good Old Days'? No, we’re not rewatching THAT cr*p. But, for one fright-night only, we’re rocking the Christmas clock back to the 1970s…rolling back the years to the classic era of ‘A Ghost Story for Christmas’...the BBC series that brought low-level spooky spectralness to Yuletide without putting Nanna off her snowball or leaving Weird Uncle Nobby hospitalised with a choked-on cheeseball and kept in overnight for observation. And because our Christmas cuppeth runneth overeth with Blue Nun and Black Tower, it’s a DOUBLE BILL!!!!

First, ‘Lost Hearts’ – and what could be more Christmassy than a nut(ter) and some creepy kids? Plus a gratuitous name-check for Hermes Trismegistus! Joyeux Noël!

Then, ‘The Signalman’ – reminding us NEVER to take for granted the smooth running of the rail network over the festive period. Bon Voyage!

Keep the Harvey’s Bristol Cream, orange Matchmakers and big tin of Family Circle in easy reach! Personally, I’m sticking with the Quality Street and Top Deck shandy. I Wish It Could Be Rewatch Thursday Every Day!

Just to dispel any fog of befuddlement - not to mention mist of misunderstanding or drizzle of doubt - this is an Official Terror Thursday (OTT) rewatch brought to you by Seeb E Productions in collaboration with the Organisation for Spooky Piffle (OSP).

I'm not expecting anything unexpected to happen this Thursday, so I should be here for the Festive Fright night lite. Unless, of course, I'm not.

Thanks for not making that unclear. I'm expectant - and possibly expectorant - with provisional expectation.

This is an official Non-pinned Cold Thread, by the way. I did ask Virny to put a pin in it. But you might just as well talk to a brick wall. Albeit one she probably built herself. No, really. She does that sort of thing in her all-encompassing spare time.

This had better be more 'frightening' than the stuff you claimed so much about last time. Most of it was just plain weird.

I feel a 'not-going-to-be-impressed' vibe is building up. That should make it funnier. Grin

Sorry, not going to be here this time. Have fun!

I'm not going to be here either, I'm afraid - one of those tedious meetings (that REALLY could have been emails) has been ordained, and I must go out into the cold instead of staying at home with some entertainingly scary watching.

Here I be, replete with trepidation. Nothing to do with the ghost stories. Hell hath very few furies like an unimpressed northerner.

Everyone's a northerner from where you're sitting.

So...who's feeling Christmassy, then? Who wants to feel a little LESS Christmassy? You've come to the right place!

I just put the dvd in...up came the menu and some eerie humming started. I thought it was the dvd. But it wasn't...

I don't want you spoiling it for everyone else. Not like you usually do. At the very least, pretend to be mildly entertained.

It's not crimbo if there's no ghost stories.

I regularly get the vicar round to exorcise my DVD player.

Is it just the Unholy Trinity tonight?

If he came up to Stoke, he wouldn't know where to start.

I think I'd just send the entire General Synod up there.

Are we all set? Has Virny got cold water on standby?

M1795537OCVirn
Speaking of starting, are we going to? Or wait for the proper time?

She has got ectoplasm in a bucket next to her comfy chair. Mr Virn is in charge of the mop.

Wrong, but I do have a fan heater beside me and Mr Virn has brought me 3 chocolates.

That all actually sounds a lot scarier than anything we're going to see tonight.

Those two kids will catch their death out there

'Is it much further?' - the olden days eqiuvalent of 'are we nearly there yet?'

For the whole cast, OSP, we’ll be needing names, career highlights, shoe sizes & National Insurance numbers

I think I might have seen this before...
