For many people, this is the definitive version of Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol. There have been many versions of the story filmed before or since this one. Many of them good films in their own right. (Muppet Christmas Carol is glorious with a brilliant Michael Caine in the main role). But Alastair Sim is marvellous as Ebenezer Scrooge. Beyond marvellous, really. He embodies the spirit of the character. We laugh, cry, turn from despair to hope as we watch the transformation of the character. So join us on Thursday 18th December as we watch Scrooge. You won't regret it. https://youtu.be/bsMYwgnfKAE?si=z0gjR...2ClIDgoV0g Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

The GhOSP of Christmas Past, the GhOSP of Christmas Present and the GhOSP of Christmas Yet to Come. Truly trebly traumatising. Not to mention the shades of Jacob M17955arley. |

At first, when I saw the title to this thread, I thought it was going to be suggestions for presents to buy AA for Christmas. Panic over. (I'd have suggested RAC membership btw.) |

Well I am here, at least. Accompanied by my never ending cold which is acting like the most unwanted advent calendar you could ever wish not to have. Yesterday's little gift was oozing eyes (every bit as horrible as it sounds). Today's gift is a double up: teeth ache (all of them) and having to hold my head when I cough (it's less painful). I look forward with a Dickensian dread to tomorrow's offering...

Sorry to hear you're oozing, OSP. Never a good look. I thought I was developing a rash, then realised it was only from being prickled by our Christmas tree.

Oh OSP, I'm so sorry your cold is still troubling you! It sounds horrible. I hope the film will take your mind off it a bit. |
