"You're not sulking, I hope?"

AnneArthur
That's good - it's gone on to part 2 automatically.

OneSparePart
Wish I had a rich great grandma
Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

AnneArthur
The books are based on a real house, at Hemingford Grey near Cambridge - I wonder if that's where it's filmed?

Does Wytch Hazel have flowers like that in December?

'I'm glad you've come. It'll be lovely for me'. It's the sort of thing Servalan might have said.

Do you think she has a look of an elderly Servalan about her?

AnneArthur
I bet that house is cold - not good for going about in pyjamas.

No, they chose somewhere in Suffolk.

It doesn't look quite like the house, as described in the book.

These stories move things on so quickly without seeming to. Great writing, and looks like being a decent adaptation.

Yes, it seems to be working very well so far.

What year was thos filmed? I have no memory of it and I was always keen on a classic serial.

1986.

1986! It looks and feels 10 years older!

1986, I think - I would be too old for it then, I think, but it's lovely.

AnneArthur
We're doing episode 2, aren't we?

OneSparePart
Wonder what happened in the 1st 7 mins of this episode?
Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

M1795537OCVirn
So we'll soon have to make up the first part of Episode 2 for ourselves...what's your guess?
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

AnneArthur
I can't find episode 2 part 1 - do you have the same problem?

AnneArthur
Ah, I see you do. He seems to be playing hide and seek with the ghost children.

AnneArthur
And we've missed him finding the St Christopher statue.

AnneArthur
Ah, we've missed him finding the topiary animals!

You'd better do a quick resume!

I don't really remember - I think there was an old statue of St Christopher in the books. And a sinister topiary Noah, if I remember rightly. I think that was the 'and what else' that the great-grandmother was asking about.

The St Christopher was a good thing, a counterpart to the bad Green Noah.

This bit is rather reminiscent of Black Beauty, I think!

I got really caught up in the story then. I 've been meaning to read this for a while now.

It's not a long book, and it's really atmospheric.

M1795537OCVirn
They're trying hard to recreate that atmospheric feel.

AnneArthur
Oh I see - it's a T-shaped bit of wood.

This lad is really very good as Tolly

Yes!

Don't forget - save Eps 3 and 4 for next week!!
"You're not sulking, I hope?"

AnneArthur
That was the Green Noah, I think - they've made it more of a carving, less topiary.
