Boaty and the Chef are like the Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly. Before we know where we are, they'll have teleported a Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Despair Squid aboard.

It reminds me of the Robert Sheckley short story, "Watchbird".

Speaking of RD, the new novel is out this year.

(By the way, there is a German cartoonist whose beaver cartoons make me suspect that he really believes that beavers feed on wood...)

I hope Boaty and the Chef don't forget there's an airlock on the ship that would be used if they destroy my pizza trees Grin Grin

Perhaps we could drive the trees and the beavers away with a Hammond Organ recital.

Close, but no cigar:

Episode 938

(Just for the record: I love the city mentioned in the strip, and I am also very fond of this type of music. But as there are many people who can't stomach it, it is always good for gags like this.)

Sorry, but it is actually a clothes shop. When I saw that (at 495 Lawnmarket) while researching Edinburgh, I just had to use it as a background because of this ambiguity.
Maybe they sell clothes that smell of prawn cocktail?

Possible future strip:

Sue: "Where's me pringles?"
Shop assistant: "Hen, we only sell clothes!"
Sue: "Not even prawn cocktail pringles?"
Shop assistant: "Would you like a nice sweater?"
Sue: "Oh, that is nice. It's very smooth to the touch. Reminds me of a certain costume. Do you accept Vems?"

The first comic strip in the world to come with GPS coordinates.

And second-hand pants that smell like prawns... : O

Those of you who try and follow Boaty and Chef's adventures on a map of Edinburgh will notice that their sense of orientation is a bit off. After a long detour, they are now back at the Royal Mile, at 343 High Street! (Yup, even more coordinates...!)

Just found out that Rob Grant has passed away. Appropriate there was an obligatory Red Dwarf reference in today's strip. RIP Rob

The strip starts out as "Volcano" but ends as "Stardrive".

No, you are safely aboard the ship. It was only Boaty und Chef who went to Edinburgh, and I won't believe for a second that those two bumbling idiots were you and Paula in disguise!

Can the pipers scare off the zombie trees too and then we are back down to one problem? I'll take pipers over zombie trees and Brad will have a group to jam with.

As you will see in today's episode, we can't freeze the pipers – not with all the alcohol in their blood stream.
(To avoid spoilers, I used magic invisible inkl. Just hover over the missing text AFTER you read today's episode.

Good idea (and as I said before, I do like bagpipe music!), but I'm afraid the story will take a very different direction:
