She was more concerned with saving the innocent babies.

One of the subtle things I like about this ep is that they hired sets of twin actors to play the extras on Auron - Cally and Zelda aren't the only clones!

I wonder to what extent Cally's presence in a group of freedom fighters influenced Servalan's decision to go after Auron?

Sorry I haven't joined you for a while. The day I got back I came down with the lurgy and last week, after my first day out and about, I'd kind of overdone things and was too tired. I hope you're all well.

Did you have a good time in Cornwall? Sorry to hear that you've been ill too.

Hi Anne. Good to be back. Had a great time at Forever Avon and in Cornwall/Devon. Got the aeroplane lurgy when I got back. The flights back to Australia are always hotbeds of illness, masks notwithstanding. Had laryngitis, the whole horrible thing. Not as badly off as the Aurons though.

Has anyone written fanfic about what happened to the genestock after their escape and relocation?

Somebody, somewhere must have done, but nothing springs immediately to mind.

Seemed like a good idea to her - and maybe she could obtain some clones into the bargain. Also, she knew Cally would respond, so she 'd have a chance at the Liberator, too. Servalan plans ahead.

Sorry, to hear that Tyce. Get well soon!

I'm still under the weather with Covid, but on the plus side it means I have to stay at home instead of running around doing errands for the in-law, so I can join the rewatch.

So you have the plague Travisina? Sorry to hear that. I wonder how many from the con came down with it after. I hope it hasn't been too bad. My brother got it from going to a Bastille Day bash.Angry

Hi Anne!
I think it's more of a coincidence - Servalan wants babies, the Clone Masters are no more, so Auron is the only (?) place with a cloning facility.

I have encountered a couple but they don't immediately spring to mind. One is a PGP set well in the future. That's all I can remember.

It's a month since Forever Avon, and I think I got it more recently. In the past fortnight, I've been to the hairdresser, physiotherapist, hospital (with father in law), two restaurants, regular trips to supermarkets, local shops... could have come from any of those. I still wear a mask, but almost nobody else does Angry

Yes, that's right. A theory was that she switched from white to black in mourning for her babies, but if that was the case she'd still be in white for this ep.

That was the big thing I noticed in the UK – hardly anyone wearing masks, whereas it's still reasonably common here in Canberra. We always wear them in shopping centres.

That's what I was thinking. I remember that theory, but this blows it out the window.

The UK goverment is trying to pretend that it doesn't exist any more - gets in the way of the really important things, like the threat of unisex toilets. Sad

Ok then, for a change let me say that I'm enjoying Avon's and Cally's 'V' outfits.

And I do so love Gingka.

Avon is right, but he is being very unattractively cold-blooded in this episode. A little sympathy for Cally would not go amiss, I feel.

I checked the NHS website to see what the current regulations are for isolating etc. And there are none, apart from a vague 'avoid vulnerable people for ten days, and work from home if possible'. In other words, people are allowed to go out and about at will, regardless of level of contagion. Madness!

Gets in the way of economic growth, except that people being ill has very obviously got in the way of economic growth. Logic bypass.

I like the costumes in this as well. And the hierarchical struggle between Ginka and wossisname makes a good subplot.

Gingka is fascinating. One of the very few ethnic minority officers we see in the Federation, and he is complaining about being passed over. I have a theory that the pre-Federation regime practiced ethnic cleansing (explaining the number of planets with black leaders in Warlord - they were all banished from Earth). Since the Federation took over, a few have come back (Hal Mellanby, for example), but the Federation is still very white, and anyone else stands out a mile.

Both feel like part of an ongoing quarrel that we are only seeing part of.

Going back to the 'illnesses' discussion, I was watching this in bed the other day when I was feeling miserable and I found the masks rather interesting. They seem to be layers of gauze with a rubber thing from the top of a floor mop stuck on the front.

Probably a lot of in-fighting among Feds - survival of the fittest. Servalan probably encourages it, to improve her armies.

I like that theory. And way to rationalise the mostly-white BBC casting lists!

Absolutely. See also 'if only we had not locked down, everything would have continued as normal', forgetting all the people voting with their feet and not going to shops/cinemas/pubs etc.
