Hi,

The current schedule for the day is as follows (this is of course subject to change on the day):

As you can see, we are aiming to have the fan zone open for 9am but it may be a touch later if we encounter set up issues.

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post but I should have joined years ago.

I don't get excited about things these days, (it started a while after they fitted the limiter) however, I am really looking forward to attending the convention on Sunday.

B7 has been a 'part of my life' since watching the TV series as a boy. I watched it rather simplistically back then, I was invested in the charisma of Blake, his mission to defeat the baddies and the amazing concept of The Liberator. It was only later, in my 20s when the series was released on VHS, that I discovered the profound brilliance of the script and the acting properly. Blake was no longer the focus, he was just the glue that held a wonderful cast together. The perfect foil to Avon releasing Avon to be the perfect foil to everyone else Smile

The show could shift effortlessly between real tension and clever comedy when it needed to, the contrast intensifying both, hence so many episodes have a real rollercoaster ride feel to them, especially if you don't remember what's going to happen next!

Anyway, I wanted to thank the members of this forum for keeping something I love so alive after so many years. In addition, to thank all those who have the passion and enthusiasm to organise events like the one on Sunday (thanks especially to Scott and Hazel who took the time to contact me). I only found out by pure chance but I am delighted to have a ticket and it means a lot to me...life isn't much fun sometimes but this will be!

Thank you, and see you soon.

Paul

Due to unforeseen sad circumstances I unfortunately had to cancel my flight and will not be able to attend the convention.
I feel sad about not meeting you again.
But I'm wishing you all a wonderful experience and I will be there in spirit.

Being a veteran of these cons, I'd suggest getting there early enough to register, say around 9 am, and go into the fan zone room to meet with other fans. The con itself opens at 10 am, but to gather fans before, Team Blake has provided a separate room called the Fan Zone and that has tables and chairs, the 'canteen' and other amenities so fans can meet and talk and do whatever fans do.

I'll be missing all of you this year, but I am assured you will have the time of your life. So go and find new friends, and seek out old ones and have a blast!

Hi all,

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone tomorrow. But before I start my journey to the Steventon Colony (making sure to bring my extra strong mints) I thought I'd just post a couple of final bits of info:

First up, for anyone needing to collect a t-shirt, just come and find me and I'll sort you out. I'll be around the hall somewhere, but am usually based by the left hand corner of the stage.

Secondly, for those coming to Steventon over the weekend, who aren't using a teleport, we advise you to please check your routes. There is a road closure in place on the A34 Southbound between the A4130 and the M4, we believe this is Southbound only. Apparently this is in place until Monday morning. Safe travels to all.

And finally, a quick reminder that upon arrival at Registration you will need to show proof of your ticket purchase, either paper ticket or on your mobile phone. If you have transferred your ticket please share this to the person transferred too.

Thanks

Scott

I'm busy packing my stuff and hoping to arrive at the Didcot South Premier Inn by 7-ish (Diane time - so could - um - be a bit later!) Hopefully in time to get some food!

I'm not having an official sales table - I've not been too well the past few months so a bit behind with everything and just want to have time to enjoy the event and chat to as many people as possible. HOWEVER I am bringing a few things along that have been pre-ordered, and a little selection of past Horizon newsletters & zines and a few 'special' goodies that people might like so I'll be able to sell from my room at the hotel tonight, and from my car boot at the event tomorrow. Also bringing a selection of signed photos (of people NOT guests at the event, obviously) and a selection of 10x8s unsigned.

I'll be putting some lovely Gareth Thomas publicity photos (from his own collection) on the Con Charity Table and anything else I can find in the next couple of hours before I leave!!

Come and find me if you want to take a look - if you don't know where I am (or what I look like) most of the concom (and the guests) know me so hopefully we'll find each other.

Looking forward to seeing friends/fans old and new. x Diane

PS Once I've left home I probably won't see any messages on here - anyone searching for me can call/whatsapp 07771 602 829

Right,

I am back at the Marriot Hotel and reflecting on the brilliant day I have just had.

It's hard, even for me, to do justice to my feelings.

It is always a little scary when you don't know anyone at an event, Miles from home and uncertain of how to 'fit in'. I needn't have worried.
It is apparent that it is not only the wonderful 'cast' who are so giving but every organiser and member of the group who attended today. It's a cliche, to use the word family but that is what it is. Everyone respected, everyone cared for and utterly inclusive.

If ever anyone was in doubt about the shape of human nature....they need to come to a B7 convention.

I have a list of names in my head of the people who have made my day so special and you will know because I told you...or tried to.

The beauty of today was not only the people but the combination of celebration and a chance to help a charity I am passionate about. The Blake team have my great admiration for what they do and it is remarkable that 46 years later the bond between fans and cast and giving is stronger than I could imagine.

Highlights....there were so many.
Here are just a few. Liz from South Wales, Brian Croucher, talking to me for 2 or 3 minutes and never letting go of my hand. Ian's superb Blake and Liberator raising so much. Chatting to Alistair about voice overs and him and Matt signing my mini Orac. The brilliance of Sharon at the entrance and her telling me off for trying to get into the hall early. Gary the trooper....all the troopers and the chap who took my photo being captured. The Kit car outside. The coincidence of the three scientists in the room at the same time! Jan (Cally) holdng my hand as I made a fool of myself crying about things I have lost. The people that made me tea....the list is endless and includes Andy, Scott and all those who just took time to say a kind word. I could go on......The time flew by. Wow.
I do have to apologise for winning a couple of raffle prizes....that was embarrassing. Sorry.
What a suberb, well run event driven by passion and love.
Thank you all so much. I hope I can return next year. You have all made a real difference to me.
Paul.

Phew...down and save back home after a slight detour as the A34 was shut going South. Still a nice trip through Wantage!
Once again a fab time, a few tears and lots of hugs. (Dearest has not had so many hugs in his life!!!!!)
As the cast said....it is a family...a family that has helped me get through the loss of my youngest Daughter and who, like Gary, is remembered.
If any of you have any doubts, please try and come to the next one, even if you are a shy retiring type (like myself!!!!!Grin)

Once again, thankyou to Hazel and Andy for getting everything organised and to PC for supplying the tea (and bacon butties). to Scott, to Phil, to Lucy...the list is endless.
Now for nice cuppa and an early night. 4.30 am is not a good time to get up.

But Gary would have been proud of everyone!

Hi everyone OVZ (John) on crutches.
I just got back, return journey was, tiring, road works but,,,now got that out of the way, I was overwhelmed with the kindness, interest in me, my leg, my burgundy Polo top at least (30+) complimented me about it, ask where I got it etc, meeting loads (sue,Virn (name escapes me sorry), Lorna, Liz and co from Wales, the people from USA, so many, just to name a few. Best bunch of people (fans), Team Blake (Hazel), actors and everybody else. You know I have problems remembering names, chatted to lots, lady from OZ Christine I think, Mark with knightrider car and so many more, A couple people gave me freebies, I wished I done it years ago. What a great venue, great people, great time I had.
If I spoke to you and you want to message me, feel free. I might not remember your name but faces I don't forget.
Thank you everyone, I felt welcomed.

Great to see you Sue and everyone else yesterday.

You got home before me. I helped pack up and we left just after 7pm. I remembered to take off my horns before I got in the car to drive home!

It was a fabulous day, Team Blake did a fabulous job and Gary would indeed be proud.

Spent a couple of hours at S-L-C on Sunday. So, after the small matter of 43 years, I finally got to go to my second B7 event. A kind of closure, really. I found Sasha Mitchell's contribution especially compelling - a great counterpoint to Paul Darrow's take on filming 'Blake' on the very day I heard him speak all those decades ago.
You shouldn't do that, should do that...

I know this is going to sound daft but,,,,,,, There was a few people there who I didn't meet who I liked to meet so (probably been suggested before) how about made up name badges (online name) so you can go ahhh so that's (insert name).
As I said I spoke to Lorna , she even took my pic, wasn't till alot later someone pointed Lorna out lol.
I think it would be a good icebreaker, for the new people, first timers, reserved people.
Any thoughts, I know there be negatives but if not compulsory but a suggestion I think it could do well.

I think this is a great idea! We see so many people in the Forum - yet we don't necessarily know who to chat to when we meet up. I'd certainly (voluntarily) do this!

Anyway - we're Down and Safe. Back home after a lovely day. It was our first ever Convention (B7 or otherwise) and I certainly had a lovely day. I didn't take many pictures - spent most of the time just talking it all in.

I understand there's a Facebook page - where can I find this (i.e. is it a B7 Online FB page, or are we talking about individual peoples pages)?

A big thank you to the organisers - and everyone we spoke to. Sorry - I didn't remember anyone's name (little name badges would be a great idea, wouldn't it).

I've got lots of posters and other merch to put up around the house, so this meet-up will be something I'll remember for a long time.

Hope to see you all again soon.

Perhaps next time you could take some sheets of peel-off stickers and a marker pen, sneak past the vigilent Sharon, and stand inside the door as if you are an official. Then, as people come in, you could tell them to write their name and/or online handle on a sticker.

PS Just where did you get that burgundy Polo shirt?

A big thank you to the organisers - and everyone we spoke to. Sorry - I didn't remember anyone's name (little name badges would be a great idea, wouldn't it).

I've got lots of posters and other merch to put up around the house, so this meet-up will be something I'll remember for a long time.

Hope to see you all again soon.

Hello Rachel- Yours and OracvZen's idea for name badges is a good one. Often times we at Horizon go by different names than our own and that causes all sorts of problems trying to identify people you converse online to. Often, especially we Mods and Admins, go to conventions and bring our own home-made badges with our club name, actual name and our screen name on it so people can find us and we can meet and also point them in the direction of other fans and members of the various clubs. But in future, great idea, especially for the Teem Blake affairs.

As to Facebook sites for Blake's 7- look no further. My husband Brad and I are Moderators here on Horizon and Administrators on the Blake's 7 Fan's site which has over 7,000 members now. I help Moderate the Totally Blake's 7 site on Facebook too. That also has thousands of members now. There is the Steven Pacey Fans site. Also Blake's 7 Props and Costumes site, Blake's 7 Liberator site and Blake's 7 Locations site. And I'm probably missing a few sites. Just type the various titles out and you should be taken to the sites in question. There are plenty of photos of the most recent Steventon convention to see and also a lively conversation on-going on many of the sites. We'd love to have you join our groups on Facebook. Welcome in advance!

Hi Paula thank you, I don't have Facebook as such but I find a way. So you and Brad run a few things then, very cool.
One correction, it was me who suggested homemade badges, if you look at the thread

That is true, OracVZen. I amended the post but it didn't take. I'll do it again.
