Well, that was OK. Ending was a bit sudden. But a nice study in space survival. Must remember that when I go to Mars.

The Martian is a better one for the survival stuff, if equally far-fetched in other bits.

Don't forget to take a monkey with you, so that it can show you how to survive.

M1795537OCVirn
I think it ended so suddenly because they'd run out of ideas! Or maybe budget.

True but it's interesting to note this is a few years before the actual events of Apollo 13 so all the stuff about using what you have became real for that crew.

So what happened to 'Friday'? Did he get back to Earth? Did the Andromedans follow? Is that how the Intergalactic War started? Where's the follow-up?

I don't know whose idea that was, but it was a good one. I'd never even heard of that film. What are we watching next week?

But they didn't have the advantage of a nice safe planet with a breathable atmosphere, abundant water, edible plants, visiting slaves... do I need to go on?

I liked this one better than the Thing, anyway. Well tried, that man.

Well it had the advantage of being fiction too.

I didn't put a News announcement about it this week. Do you think it's worth doing it each week to let people know what we're watching? Or leave them to find the thread themselves?

Several people seemed to find this, but then weren't interested. I would put up a news item, if you have time.

Sorry, thought you were referring to Apollo 13. I was. Grin
I liked the Andy Weir book though.

OK, time read my husband the next installment of his bedtime story. It's SF by C S Lewis, set on Venus, actually. Don't think anyone's tried making it into a film.

Thanks, OSP. Looking forward to the next one. Goodnight both!

Perelandra? I don't think that has been made into a film.

Good night everyone, and thanks for the rewatch!

There does appear to be a youtube video of a trailer for a film of Perelandra - I wonder if the film was ever made?

Anyway, goodnight.
