Just an airy-fairy-scary-contrary concept at the moment. But something for our hardcore worshippers at the Church of Crud to conjure with... File it under 'L' for 'Left-field Suggestion'. Or 'P' for 'Plainly Unworkable, You Knob'. It might well make for a long evening/afternoon. Take the brakes from you imagination. Visualise a sea of crud-lovers basking in the watery twilight of brilliantly dud movies. A unique 'happening' based squarely on the Glastonbury model. Or, even better, the Stonehenge free festival model (albeit with insufficient Hawkwind and fewer riot police). So... Key features... - Multiple (say three or four) stages, with three 'acts' (i.e. shortish movies) per stage. - We'd have to agree/vote on which stage we head over to - and, indeed, whether we leg it between stages in between acts. - Each stage would have its own 'headliner', plus a couple of support acts (including, like Glasto, a 'legends' slot). - Homemade CRUDFEST '26 wristbands (photo evidence required, or at the very least an extremely good verbal description). - Fast food of questionable nutritional value. - Sunscreen and hand sanitiser (and no, you can't borrow mine). - Stalls selling official unofficial CRUDFEST/Crud Club merchandise. - Healing area (so OSP can sort out her attitude problem). - Poor weather. Maybe tie it in with the Spring Equinox for no apparent reason. Or, even better, National Comfy Day (sometime in February, I believe). What do you think? |

I love anonymous votes. It's almost like you can't tell who cast them. We'd be needing names for the stages. A way of paying tribute to our crud-and-thunder heroes, perhaps. Maybe The Roger Corman Stage. Or The Russ Bender Stage. And, because broadening horizons - and indeed Horizon - is part of CRUDFEST's public service remit...how about The WET GECKO Stage, where silence is golden but our eyes still see. |

Sounds like a blast and just up our street! Count us in. Great news! CRUDFEST '26 is now officially quorate! And a 'thing'! Which is appropriate. I'll give it a bit longer to see if any other crud crusaders or closet crudders want to join us for a binge-watch and then we can start mapping out mechanics in terms of what day/what time etc. |

1. I can't believe there are so few Crud-fans among so many Horizoners. After all, they watch B7. 2. Also, I'm not sure about the timescale - there are so many completely awful films out there - how will we know when to stop? 3. Is National Comfy Day really a thing? Why is it not International? 4. Perhaps I should have warned the others when CB said he was bored (again). 5. What do we have to lose? 6. Are pets allowed? "You're not sulking, I hope?"

What is a Crud fan? Someone who enjoys bad genre movies for their badness. Think of the Crud Club as amateur hour Mystery Science Theater 3000. . . Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

What is a Crud fan? For me, I think it's someone who enjoys picking holes in films that try but fail, with amusing consequences, and who enjoys the company of other B7 fans. No idea what OSP might think, and it's probably better not to know Cygnus Bazza's definition. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Thanks Brad and M! I love bad movies! But not bad Dr Who. Or Horror. Agree with T. T. That anyone who thinks B7 is Crud is…… WRONG. But the TV series of Planet of the Apes. Dynasty. Gunsmoke. Dr Kildair. Buck Rogers. Yep fantastic! Don’t know if home circumstances would allow me to commit to a 3 hour watch but it sounds like a great fun idea. Play the hand fate deals you.

Yeah, OK, that is Crud and yet the first 4 or so seasons (with the original Fallon) are great. Losing Pamela Sue Martin was the moment it totally lost its way. And Buck Rogers? I'm a complete sucker for that. Biddy-biddy-biddy! I guess I would watch the right sort of Crud Just avoid Wasp Woman CB made a mistake of harping on about that one, so I watched the first and last 5 minutes and it's put me off any other Crud rewatches!

(Annie – we’ll put a wristband by in case you get the urge/opportunity to confront our Crucible of Crud.) (TT – Word on the street is that ‘The Wasp Woman’ may be a shock CRUDFEST headliner on The Roger Corman Stage...) The Church of Crud Club opens its doors to all. Even tho' we recognise Crud’s not for everyone.* Many are called, few are chosen. It’s the road less travelled, a craggy, crappy old path strewn with the detritus of ambition that outran talent, budgets or both. Sometimes frailties need to be celebrated. They can also be v. funny. And God knows we need a good laugh in these tenebrous times. Crud fandom’s all about recognising that anyone can be unfortunate enough to make a bad film (or whatever), but making a nigh-on unwatchable one is an achievement. There’s a fascination in seeing the human capacity for incompetence/ ludicrous self-delusion play out harmlessly before your very eyes. Not that any of us can claim immunity to incompetence/ ludicrous self-delusion. Which is why plunging into cruddy waters reminds us we all have feet of clay. Low-budget clay, obviously. * Nothing is. Not even ‘Waldorf Salad’. Or Egg’s classic ‘The Polite Force’ album. |

You'll be ousted in a palace coup. 2. Tell-tale narcolepsy. 3. (i) Yes. (ii) Can't imagine. 4. Definitely. Big mistake. 5. Everything and nothing. Two things can be true at the same time. Even when they're logically incompatible. 6. Yes. (I'm getting a wristband for Lily cat.) |

Call me shallow but half a day watching Crud! No way, José! But then Anniew listed some Crud examples, half of which I quite like if not love. And M'Virn put Crud and B7 in the same paragraph.... ![]() So, what I'm saying is...it depends on what your idea of crud is. If everything is on the same level as the Wasp Woman, I would top myself before the day is through. Chuck in a relatively decent bit of SF (Super Carrot?) then I would give it serious consideration. We do need to have some contrast.

You either love Crud or you don't, it's that easy. Brad and I are card-carrying Crudders from way back. I have watched cheesy sci-fi and horror films since I've been 10 years old when they were played after school on a local tv station. I'm a veteran of local Chicago-land shows like Svengoolie, Creature Features, and Brad and I are/were members of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and still watch that and Cinematic Titanic, Riff Trax and the Film Crew. We often watch one of these crud films during the week and have been going through the newer Godzilla films. We can't get enough of them, have watched hundreds of them and are always looking for more! That's a true crudder.

Oh, come on. I wouldn't be here at all if I didn't think B7 was brilliant (if only for giving Jacs a chance to show everyone how fabulous she was). And at every B7 rewatch people poke holes in some part of the 'plot' or continuity, or costumes.... in a friendly way, of course. It's part of the attraction. With crud films it's similar, but much, much worse, which gives CB and OSP space to be really, really savage. In a friendly way. "You're not sulking, I hope?"

Perennial gift to bantz, that one. Regardless of its 'merits'. Right. Site preparation at the CRUDFEST '26 venue is now under way. Check back for further updates over the coming weeks. All proceeds from the event will, of course, be invested directly into local infrastructure improvements that serve the community. Not that there'll be any proceeds, of course. But no harm in talking the talk. Oh and no riff-raff. Edited by Cygnus Bazza on 22-01-2026 14:07 |

Worrying news, friends. Apparently a bunch of meddling residents have expressed concern about crud leaching from the event into local watercourses. The case has been referred to someone wearing a wig. (Possibly a cast member from Hairspray - The Musical.) The matter's not only sub judice but also under judicial consideration. Double blow. Watch this space. Or any other space, should you prefer. It's a free country. (NB: This may not apply to our US members.) |

Bovvered? With you lot? Surely not. ![]() ![]() Hopefully we can put the ecological safeguards in place to enable the event to go ahead. We're aiming for it to be the GREENEST-EVER CRUDFEST. I'll recycle some jokes and you can recycle your haughty aloofness. |

Or Egg’s classic ‘The Polite Force’ album.
