Just trying to explore what the plan might be for the non-B7 stuff. Would it be best to slot in a 'one-and-done' rewatch next week? With the Eurovision hiatus on 11th May, is there much point starting a new 'run' before 18th May? We should hold Quatermass back until June, as OSP's out of commission on 4th & 25th May and it'd be a bit rough on her to blaze ahead with Q in her theatrical absence. If a one-off next Thursday is the way to go, any suggestions? Here's a possibility: David Jackson plays a bit-part copper in the classic episode 'The Eyes Have It' from the 1970s Thriller series (it also boasts luminaries such as Dennis Waterman, Alun Armstrong, Sinead Cusack & Peter Vaughan). It's a bit daft but quite clever - and you won't forget the opening salvo, either. Very 70s. It's on YouTube too. But, as I say, just a suggestion. Edited by Cygnus Bazza on 28-04-2023 12:26 |

What criteria are we looking for? If there are any.

What criteria are we looking for? If there are any. It's always nice to find something with some sort of B7 link, however tenuous. But that's not hard and fast. Something from roughly the same genre, or of roughly the same vintage, or just anything good - they can all be up for discussion, I'd have thought. |

What about Sapphire and Steel? It aired about the same time Blake’s 7 did and David Collings is a recurring character. I know at least one set of episodes is on YouTube, I’d have to check for the rest.

They all look like good ideas, to my mind. Only thing is they're fairly long series, so do we need to slot some of them in after Quatermass/Daemons and (if feasible) M1's Moondial, which have already been mentioned as the next cabs off the rank? I guess the immediate question is how to plug the gap(s) this month while we get set up to do something Quatermass-y in June when OSP's not so susceptible to the roar of the greasepaint. Alternatively, we may just need M1/TT to tell us what to do. |

Well, it's nice to have a B7 link or be genre, it's not a necessity. As you said, something of the same vintage is also good. We did Fawlty Towers in the run up to Xmas, simply as an antidote to 38 weeks of Survivors, which is fantastic but also a bit grim in places

OK, looking at the suggestions, let's take two weeks off, watch Doctor Who: The Daemons on May 18th and May 25th (2 and 3 split), then commence Quatermass and the Pit (1958) from June 1st. I assume it's that Quatermass we're referring to? Is everyone OK with that plan? PS I won't be available next Thursday, but nothing to stop a one-off re-watch of something else if 2 or more people want to do it! Vote Og.

Q in June looks like a great plan - personally I don't mind which one it is, or whether it's TV or movie (as long as it's accessible, of course). Any sort of dollop'll do. Makes sense not to do the whole lot in one go. OSP strikes me as a bit of a Daemons daemon, so - in view of her diary clash on 25th May - might it be an idea to hold back that serial till after our Quatermass quota? Could slot in a couple of OVZ's Nigel Kneale-y things on 18th/25th May (again, assuming they're accessible). I don't think I know them but would be happy to give them a lash. As for this Thursday, I'll go with the flow, if there is one, or drift in the doldrums if there isn't. |

As for this Thursday, I'll go with the flow, if there is one, or drift in the doldrums if there isn't. Let's stick with The Daemons on May 18th and May 25th - but maybe switch to a 3-and-2 split. Less than OSP to catch up then! Her main concern was not missing Quatermass when we do that. It's a semi-regular thing for someone to miss a rewatch one week and need to catch up on it during the week - as long as we have at least 2 people actually doing the re-watch at the prescribed time on here, as otherwise you feel a bit like Johnny-No-Mates ![]() As for Orac v Zen's suggestions, I notice it includes some one-offs, but maybe do one of those this week! If not, we can always include one later on - always handy to have something that fits in a single week! Sapphire & Steel also noted. We did that as recently as last year, but no reason not to do it again at some point. S&S is 34 episodes and requires 17 weeks to watch. My suggestion for some point (The Prisoner) is 17 50-minute episodes and would also need 17 weeks to watch. Vote Og.

That sounds good, although I will defer to everyone else's knowledge of Eurovision. I last watched it when Bucks Fizz won! |

In the interests of fairness...go ahead with the Daemons rewatch. At least I will see half of it. I will never book a theatre outing on a rewatch day again!

I can't make this week, but I might be able to do next Thursday on the 11th (while CB is having an Eurovision fest ). I won't pick, though, I'll let other people do that.

Yep - go for it! I'll sit this fortnight out while you 'do' Dust (as I can't do the second leg in any case). Besides, I've got other things to focus on right now, not least Finland's inevitable march to Eurovision glory (assuming the Swedish steamroller doesn't flatten all before it.) I'll keep my powder dry for Daemons and National Dog Collar Day on May 18th. |

Personally, I've got the Daemons DVD but I don't think it's on YouTube. Maybe TT's got something else up his sleeve. In the UK, the used DVDs are a couple of quid on Amazon, by the looks of it, but time's obviously very tight now. Has this rewatch got fiasco written all over it??? Hope not or M1'll be trying to force-feed us more DUST and, let's face it, nobody wants that. |

Having never heard of it nor seen any, it was really interesting and entertaining. And it certainly didn't have time to outstay its welcome. Still, that does not fix what we are watching next. I am off being theatrical on the 25th so the choice is yours (plural). Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

Seriously, though, do we think Daemons is going to happen on the 18th/25th as planned? I'm slightly sceptical, because I suspect it's not easy to access. But hopefully TT's got an ace up his sleeve. Incidentally, I believe a competitively priced range of merch will shortly be available for M1/OSP's new Dust Club. |
