This is mostly for fun and out of curiosity, but I admit to an ulterior motive—I want to see if there any fan-favorite characters I should write fics for more often.

Although I wanted to cast a vote for Del Grant, I decided to go with the main crew and chose Vila, as he is one of the most interesting characters of the series- there are many facets to the character and he is endlessly either entertaining or annoying- but never boring- unless the writers just can't think of anything interesting for him to do. And besides, Michael K is a dear, sweet man and I adore him.

Gotta be KA. Without Avon, it's not even half the show. Watching B7 back in '78 as a teen, at first the whole set-up seemed a bit 2-D (or even 1-D). It was only when Avon's character started to emerge from the general fog that everything got interesting and genuinely warranted a bit of viewer loyalty. (From this viewer, at any rate.) When PD came to Cambridge Uni to speak in October '81, hotfoot from filming 'Blake', it really was rather magical. Especially in retrospect, because at the time we had no idea that the programme was on its last legs. In fact, I joined Horizon four years ago purely in the hope of finding someone else who'd been at that amazing event. No dice, sadly. Jenna, with Del Grant a very close second, considering how much better Sally looks in a white body stocking (Horizon) than Tom.
. . Cockatoo? What Cockatoo? I don't see a Cockatoo! |

Got to be Servalan. She's the main reason I watch B7 - then or now. So glad I met her!

I think we need to see Tom in a white body stocking to ensure our votes are correctly calibrated. I used to be such a sweet, sweet thing

Got to say it's Vila for me. As a 14 yo in (mumbly mumbly 1970 something) Avon was too distant, too old, and too cold a character for me to relate to. As a now adult, I think, Avon has become more relatable. However Vila as the "everyman" who has to have the mythos explained to him as the audience surrogate is still my favourite. I used to be such a sweet, sweet thing

I do have a theater magazine from the early 70's where Tom was on the cover completely naked (tastefully), in a play called 'Inside Out', but I'm not going to post that here. Guess we'll just have to imagine it.... Resist the Host

I was stuck my thankfully short “moody emo phase”, as my mum affectionately calls it, when I first watched Blake’s 7, so I related to Avon a little too much! Villa all the way, clever, sparky, witty and as a 13/14 year old, at the time I felt I was like him, frightened, love lock picking, always belittled. I know bit of a soul bearing. I plan to live forever,or die trying.

I agree with the originator, more fun than anything else. I can find something in all the characters to like, in different ways. Tempting to pick Avon, around whom everyone seems to evolve. Or Vila, the butt of so much banter, so human and the perfect counterbalance to Avon. Even Orac, with his(?) irresistably and seemingly annoying logic, but actally amusing. But there is just one character you couldn't take away or replace and expect B7 to still be .... well, B7. And that is Servalan. |

It’s very hard to pick just one favorite! But you’re right, it just wouldn’t be Blake’s 7 without Servalan. The Blake’s 7 section of my blog, where I post fics, art, essays, etcetera.
