It's traditional for us to watch this one on the anniversary of the episode (December 21st). This year, it means a Saturday. If that's a major pain to everyone, we can find a more appropriate date, maybe Monday, December 23rd. The episode: Derek Thirteen - Blake (Carry On Dying) The date: Monday, December 23rd, 2024 (now confirmed after vote) The time: 7.45pm UK time A reminder of the Season Derek drinking game – no additions needed, although a stomach pump may be required after the final scene: Here’s the number of sips/swigs per each of these: Avon is knocked unconscious 1 A scientist dies/is already dead (per scientist) 5 A member of the main cast wears the same costume as last week (per costume) 2 There’s the sequence (or part of the sequence) of Scorpio landing / taking off at Xenon Base 3 Vila drinks something red (per scene) 10 Tarrant falls in love 5 Soolin shoots someone (per person) 5 Slave says “sorry” (each mention) 1 Each mention of “Sleer” 2 Avon laughs manically and/or smiles inappropriately 5 There’s a downbeat ending in sharp contrast to the jangly end theme 10 The final shot of the episode includes Paul Darrow 3 A member of the main cast is killed or stunned (per cast member) 1 bottle of wine / 1 can of beer * * For clarification, this also includes when a computer member of the crew stops functioning and when a past crew member is reported dead. Meanwhile, it’s time for the Blake’s 7 Christmas Special. "IT'S CHRISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST-MAS!!!!" Lovely of jolly japes with Avon and crew, as they encounter Santa Claus and attend the wedding of Roj Blake and Jenna Stannis, and "Everyone Lives". Woo-hoo!!!! ** ** The actual contents of this episode may vary slightly. Episode in a word: Massacre. Character to cheer: Tarrant is a bit of a hero in this one – in his efforts to crash land Scorpio (especially, as we’ve found out, he skipped the Federation academy before they taught him how to land a ship). He does mess it up a bit later on, though, by not spotting that Blake was playing games. Mind you, that’s more the fault of Blake. Characters to boo: A joint award to Blake and Avon, who manage to mess things up even more than usual. Is Soolin looking lovely this week: Yes. She’s not looking so good for the final minute or so, although she escapes with a flesh wound after I lent her my cigarillo case. Recognisable Face: David Collings (Deva) has been in just about everything, including Silver in “Sapphire And Steel”, the headmaster in “Press Gang”, and a couple of roles in “Doctor Who”. Best exchange: TARRANT: “You going to tell us what we've got planned, Avon?” VILA: “We know what we've got planned. Running away is what we've got planned.” DAYNA: “A strategic withdrawal is what we've got planned.” VILA: “There's a difference?” TARRANT: “Oh, yes. A strategic withdrawal is running away... but with dignity.” VILA: “So lay in a course and let's get the dignified hell out of here.” B7 will not return… EVER! Date now confirmed as next Monday (December 23) at 7.45pm UK time. Fairly appropriate to watch "Blake" on the last Monday before Christmas, since that's what happened in 1981, albeit on the 21st. Vote Og.
