On board a luxurious cruise under the heat of the Egyptian sun, a couple’s idyllic honeymoon is cut short by a brutal murder. As secrets that have been buried in the sands of time finally resurface, can the world-famous detective, Hercule Poirot, untangle the web of lies and solve another crime?
Following the sell-out tour of Murder on the Orient Express, the European premiere of this thrilling production reunites writer Ken Ludwig, director Lucy Bailey (Witness for the Prosecution) and Fiery Angel.
Starring as Poirot is Mark Hadfield (Belfast; Outlander; Wallander) who will be joined on stage as Salome Otterbourne by Glynis Barber (Blake’s 7; Dempsey and Makepeace; EastEnders) and Bob Barrett (Murder on the Orient Express; Holby City) as Colonel Race.
AGATHA CHRISTIE: Born in Torquay in 1890, Agatha Christie became, and remains, the best-selling novelist of all time. She was an extraordinary woman with a remarkable mind who wrote her first mystery novel in 1916 when she was just 26, following a bet with her sister. It was published four years later as The Mysterious Affair at Styles. Her prolific writing career spanned five decades, with 66 crime novels, 6 non-crime novels and 150 short stories. Her work includes Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, and the genre-defining And Then There Were None FUN FACT Glynis starred in a production of And Then There Were None . She created Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, two of the most famous detectives of all time, and wrote over 25 plays, of which the most famous, The Mousetrap, is the longest running play in the world, having debuted in 1952.
FUN FACT: Glynis starred as Vera Claythorne in a production of And Then There Were None from September 1987 to June 1988 at the Nottingham Playhouse, and the Duke of York's Theatre in London
