Survivors S3 Ep12 Power
OneSparePart
Yes, thanks to that virus carrying off over 90% of the population, they can now use electricity and not have to mortgage their lives to pay for it.

https://youtu.be/1btEMh9XJHc

Finally, now Greg has popped his clogs, they reach Scotland - to try to switch on the electricity supply to the surviving populace - only to find that the scary man from Children of the Stones is laying claim to ownership of the electricity. Actually, he is the scary man in a lot of shows in the 70s. Now that is power. Plus, Sam the rat is probably going to do some sabotage. It'll end badly for someone...
We may get an answer to the question: how did 150,000 Scottish people survive the plague?

Note of interest: Paul...Jenny and Greg's son - remember him? - is 'played' by one of Lucy Fleming's own sons.
Also appearing besides Iain 'scary man' Cuthbertson: Barry Stokes who appeared in many of my fave 70s shows - Doomwatch, UFO & Space 1999.

Well, this is IT. The final front...no, wrong show...the final episode. 45 years ago in June 1977 the 38th and final episode was shown. Did it fall or was it pushed? Did any show we have heard of ever come to a proper finish....? Grin

Join us, if you dare, for the end:

Hey Alec the Scots man said "brekfast". Scottish people possibly say "break fast". Just being picky.

Iain Cuthbertson doesn't have much of a Scottish accent.

The really posh laird types do have frightfully upper class english sounding accents.

He was quite out of his depth. I don't think he understood fandom.

I did wonder about that. He WAS Herne the Hunter once, it's bound to have had an effect...

Oh for goodness sake! The old 'I can't put 2 and 2 together cos I've had a bash on the head' angle! Sam told him he was going to do sabotage!

Update: he was trying to protect Sam?! Incredible.

All the work done and it is hanging by a thread. Come on, deal with the luddite.

I'm laughing to myself. This power complex is to Survivors what Oldbury Power Station is to Blake's 7.

Half of my childhood was spent watching tv stars run around power stations, gas works etc

I was waiting for him to meet his end.

Well they obviously didn"t think it was going to end. Pity. I'd have liked to see Iain Cuthbettson flinging his weight around in S4.

That was a strange ending. Sure they have power- so life goes on? I'd have wanted to see the main group home and thriving I guess.

Well. The end. Who'd have thought it? Were we still locked down when we started this rewatch?
Silflay hraka, u embleer rah!

Paula
Yes, you are correct. It was all set up for another series. That's why it didn't have a definitive ending.

There have been some audio dramas...maybe Big Finish?

Well, this ending is going to bother me all day. Sure they got the power back on and the railways going but still- it's a long climb from that still. They could have gone a few more series but alas, it didn't happen. It was so enjoyable to have you watching with me. Thanks for all the great comments and humor. 'Night.

Yes, BF has done Survivors with some of the original cast.

When we started this, I was a bit gloomy about it. My memories of watching Survivors were really dark and depressing. But I have actually really enjoyed watching it...and in great company too.
