I had to give myself a good talking to NOT to carry on watching after last week's watch. Gripping stuff.

Yes it was surprisingly scary, considering we're all grown up now, AND we knew what was coming. How's things with you, OSP?

Ok, I'm here, having just dealt with some tax collectors from the reign of Henry VII, looking forward to triffids.

Those tax collectors just won't let anything go, will they! Even after all these years. Hi, AA. How's your weather?

Not really. No snow here, although my phone claims it's been snowing for a while now. My phone tells lies.

We actually had some snow here today, although it didn't lie - how about you?

Why is there a picture of a dalek on the wall in that room?

I'm translating entries about them (giving the king a security for paying him their money) for someone who is interested in them.

We will now agree the snow has been a big wet hen and wake up tomorrow with snow up to the windowsill.

I've got episode three, but it seems to be a retread of episode one. Is there an unusually long introduction, or have I got the wrong episode? Seem to have got the right one now, I think. They are being besieged in the car by blind people - is that right?

In mine, they're eating a meal and discussing where to go next.

Going suddenly blind must be everyone's worse nightmare. With or without triffids.

And how do you deal with helping or not helping people?

Swearing on the BBC! Those were the days.

I find myself missing Blake, who would have tried to organise the blind people and help them.

Seems we have a Blake substitute.

It would have gone wrong somehow. Blake would find a way.

Did that triffid just burp?

Wouldn't put it past one to burp!

He says those who have survived...he didn't add 'and can see' though that is what he meant. Harsh.

Wyndham is very much a 'survival of the fittest' type, which is one of the things I don't like about him.

Even apocalyptic disaster seems to favour blokes...well the ones who can see

Difficult to sign up to their rules when most of the rules are going to have to change anyway in the face of a changing situation.

Even if it's the cold hard truth?

I suppose I think that it's a cold hard truth he arrives at rather too quickly, and rather too gleefully.

OK - are we waiting till 20 past for episode 4?

I will have to re read some Wyndham to see how I find his writing after so many years since I last picked one of his books up.

Yes, here we are - women must have babies, men must work. We can support women who can't see, not men who can't see. URGH. They don't have enough food for themselves, why are they prioritizing producing more hungry mouths at once?
